Right to life? I hope his killer gets the electric chair!!

These people are domestic terrorist and deserve to be locked up! Right to life my behind?!?

WICHITA - George Tiller, the Wichita doctor who became a national lightning rod in the debate over abortion, was shot to death this morning inside the lobby of his Wichita church.

Tiller, 67, was shot just after 10 a.m. at Reformation Lutheran Church at 7601 E. 13th, where he was a member of the congregation. Witnesses and a police source confirmed Tiller was the victim.

Police said they are looking for white male who was driving a 1990s powder blue Ford Taurus with Kansas license plate 225 BAB. The vehicle is registered to an owner in Merriam, which is in the Kansas City area.

Wichita police Capt. Brent Allred said that several law enforcement agencies -- including the FBI and the KBI -- have been called in to help with the case.

"This is going to be a larger search than probably maybe just Wichita that we're looking for this individual," Allred said. "So we've got the resources coming in to help us with this investigation."

Homicide detectives and Sedgwick County District Attorney Nola Foulston arrived at the church after the shooting.

What appeared to be a body was taken away in an SUV with a patrol car behind it at about 12:30 p.m.

At about 12:40, a police dog was taken to check out a black SUV. An investigator wrote down the tag number on the vehicle.

Members of the congregation who were inside the sanctuary at the time of the shooting were being kept inside the church by police, and those arriving were being ushered into the parking lot immediately after the shooting. Witnesses later were being transported downtown for interviews and other members of the congregation were slowly being released from inside the sanctuary.

Tiller has long been a focal point of protest by abortion opponents because his clinic, Women's Health Care Services at 5701 E. Kellogg, is one of the few in the country where late-term abortions are performed.

"We are shocked at this morning's disturbing news that Mr. Tiller was gunned down," anti-abortion group Operation Rescue said in a statement on its Web site. "Operation Rescue has worked for years through peaceful, legal means, and through the proper channels to see him brought to justice. We denounce vigilantism and the cowardly act that took place this morning. We pray for Mr. Tiller's family that they will find comfort and healing that can only be found in Jesus Christ."

Protesters blockaded Tiller's clinic during Operation Rescue's "Summer of Mercy" protests during the summer of 1991, and Tiller was shot by Rachelle Shannon at his clinic in 1993. Tiller was wounded in both arms, and Shannon remains in prison for the shooting.

The clinic was bombed in June 1986, and was severely vandalized earlier this month. According to the Associated Press, his lawyer said wires to security cameras and outdoor lights were cut and that the vandals also cut through the roof and plugged the buildings' downspouts. Rain poured through the roof and caused thousands of dollars of damage in the clinic. Tiller reportedly asked the FBI to investigate the incident.

No arrests were made in the 1986 bombing.

Sgt. Bart Brunscheen of the Wichita Police Department said there has been no activitiy today at Tiller's clinic, although security crews were being brought in to make sure the building was secure. Officials also were going to check the clinic's security cameras to see whether there was any activity over night.

Tiller and his clinic have faced continuous threats and lawsuits. A Wichita jury ruled in March that he was not guilty of illegal abortion on 19 criminal charges he faced for allegedly violating a state law requiring an "independent" second physician's concurring opinion before performing later term abortions. Immediately following the ruling in this criminal case, the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts made public a similar complaint against Tiller that was originally filed in December 2008.

Free Republic bills itself as an "Online message boards for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web."

It is home to some reasonable people but is largely populated by the neocon sheeple.

so killing the man is ok...and the use of violence directed at the clinic...

that is what really irritates me about some people who call themselves "pro-life", they really need to call themselves "anti-abortion" instead. IF they were true pro-life, they would not kill people...

No...pro-choice is just that...pro-choice.

Nearly everyone I know who is pro-choice is like me. I believe abortion is wrong and I would never have one myself and I would hope no one would ever have one. However I respect a woman's right to choose.

If God thinks it's wrong to abort I have faith that God will work it out but that is between the woman and God. God, I am quite sure is up to that.

Pro-lifers are not pro-life...they are anti-choice.

Pro choice people are Pro Abortion, Pro Life is Anti Abortion. Its funny how people put monikers on things to make them seem better than they are. I'm not polyamorous anymore, I'm just poly! He's not a Pedophile, he's just a Pedi. I'm not a axe murderer, I'm Anti 2nd Amendment.

Abortion is what I refer to as a necessary evil. Humans put human life too high on a pedestal while all other life is just for our submission (Try telling that to a lion or bear looking at you and licking its chops...). There are a number of reasons why I do support it.

It is regrettable that it is taking life but the biggest question is what will the quality of life be for both mother and child in the case of an accidental pregnancy? There also is an overpopulation issue. Also giving birth to a retarded child is a waste of time and money and traumatic to the parents shackling them with a responsibility that will very rarely ever be capable of living a decent life on their own. Humans try to paint a picture of what "decent" and "moral" is but in the most basic sense of life retarded children would starve to death on their own or killed through an act of stupidity like falling off of a cliff or walking right up to a hungry predator. Instead we pollute our gene pool by allowing them to potentially breed their defects into our gene pool.

What is the most annoying aspect of this on going tragedy is that "Decent" and "Moral" people are the ones using bombs and assassinations to get their message out. They try to force their will upon all of us through these acts.

Many pro lifers granted have big hearts but they are blind to the realities of life itself and also the realities we face as a people trying to find definition to Moral and Decent when the play field we are on and the template we use to define these concepts keeps changing. I am also appalled that for as enlightened as we choose to believe we are as a people we are just as ignorant and savage as we were over five thousand years ago. For every step foreword towards true enlightenment we keep taking two steps back. We get smarter but not wiser collectively. That is the seed of self mass destruction.

Wost is that most Pro Lifers want the government to do what takes a people to do. There needs to be more work towards birth control, there needs to be practical answers to unwanted pregnancies that work. Not dogma, not protests, not trying to force everyone to believe in a minority group's social values. If it was my GF having to go to a clinic for any reason I would be inclined to go with her armed just in case any of them decide to get any stupid ideas. Call her a whore and a killer? I would use pepper spray on them. If they started throwing rocks and bottles? I would start shooting indiscriminately into the crowd and I would try to inflict maximum casualties and I would let a jury decide later whether or not I was justified in protecting her and the clinic from a violent and dangerous mob. Keep in mind a stone can kill you with a head shot. Also if a crowd rushed me I am not about to take a beating at their hands with out hitting back with everything I got. The police need to really address these organizations with more scrutiny. it is only a matter of time when they provoke a seriously hostile response to their activities and when stuff like that happens innocent people ALWAYS get caught in the middle.

There is no justification for their behavior and violent acts and in that alone they pose a credible threat to the health and safety of the community at large. The Pro Life movement has no credibility just like PETA. They have no solutions to a moral dilemma other than to outright ban abortion. They come off to me as loud mouthed self righteous dorks! If they had some solutions that made sense like founding clinics not using government money that helped a mother through a pregnancy and had adoptions lined up along with a financial incentive to not abort then I could start looking at them with some glimmer of respect. They should back the hell off of the issue of genetically defective pregnancies and let those happen! Unless they are going to take the responsibility they have no say!

God humanity gives me a head ache. And GAS!

God did not create all men equal. If he did we would all be the same!

Other than that, Peace out folks!

Fly low to avoid the Crazy Radar!

I can see you do not think this man deserves do die in a "humane" way. Lethal injection is too easy.

You must like the smell of frying bacon in the morning!

Should his execution be televised as well?

I think it should but that is just me.
