where you felt completely out of place? You couldn't wait to leave?

What was the reason?

Once I went to this small party , about 20 people.. but they were all married with kids and at least 10 year older than me and nobody in my age group or younger. I was sitting there with a suit and tie on..trying to get a conversation going and I did...but the talk was so superficial and shallow since I just couldn't think of a suitable topic. Plus I felt the eyes on my back constantly and I was nervous, my palms sweating and so on...scared

I've never been on a party, but if I'm at a party and I'm uncomfortable, I leave. No need to sit around where I'm not havin a good time. flowerforyou

All the parties I go too are like that unless it is just me and the few friends I have...it is always uncomfortable, coupled with my social anxiety and disregard for the human race. It can definitely be one of those "I don't want to be here" situations.

That is why I drive whereever I go, so when I feel I need to leave, I can go.

You know, actually that was the problem. It wasn't me driving, but one of my friend with his wife took me with them so I just couldn't leave. I said to myself: never again.

I usually end up in the kitchen washing the dishes or setting things up, I figure it keeps me occupied and away from the people who aren't talking to me.

That's when I drink a lot and pee on the floor. Not only do I get to leave, but they're nice enough to escort me out. It's a win win situation...I get to leave and they get to rent a carpet cleaner.

I donno...

Where ever I am at...I walk in like I belong there. People are friendly and conversational...maybe that is just cause of where I live. But, no matter where I go, if I look completely comfortable then people are very approachable.

Yeah, every family get-together. I couldn't stand my Dad's wife, nor my own two sisters. Her kids were okay though. When I was in the army, I came home for a month after Desert Storm. I spent 2 days with them, and then booked.

I have felt somewhat uncomfortable before. However, I am a social butterfly and talker so I just jump right in and adjust myself to the atmosphere. I can't think of a time where I wish I could just leave, nor have I.

Yea if there's fondue where the finger sandwiches should be, and there are wine coolers where the beer should be, and some a-hole with a bow tie acting way too sophisticated, you should leave promptly. Make something up, I find uncontrollable flatulence works well.

I often feel that way at social gatherings. Most of the time, I feel uncomfortable because I just don't like being present in groups of people. Other times, they just annoy the piss out of me.

I went to a childhood friend's wedding a couple years back. And I was so out of place it was ridiculous.

Picture this: A chubbier girl, dye black hair, black make-up, plaid school girl skirt really short, black top, and 2 inch platform sandals... and they were all orthodox Mennonites.

Ya

I pictured it, now off to take a cold shower. But I think that'd standout at most weddings not just Mennonites.

I didn't think it was that bad. It was August and super hot out! And I was taking pictures of her and the bridesmaids before the wedding and she said I looked great. Wanted my shoes!laugh
