If you have the keys, are not at home but in a public area, you are drunk and found trying to entrance a vehicle, it shows intent, you are therefore subject to the penalties of the major offense, DUI. I wasn't drunk, didn't drink since I was the designated driver that night, but they had to explain why I was pulled over a block after exiting the bar. My passengers were smashed, but I was driving.... entrapment? they let us go of course. |

So maybe they just wait for the guy to start the engine and start leaving. The person might kill someone going to the chicken joint from the bar, I'd rather drunk drivers get taken off the road before they have a chance to get their cars up to killing speed. |

that situation i don't know about. but cops here don't wait in the parking loot because of it. it's considered drunk driving if the keys are in the ignition...at least here it is. if keys aaren't in he ignition then it's public intox...again at least here

I will always respect an officer if I am stopped. I know what "could" happen if you question their authority. I don't give them any ammunition. I look like hell on camera anyway, best to make them the center of attention on video.

I even wear patchouli and had a few ask me if I had been "smoking". But as far as driving, I usually have them laughing in pretty short order, I'm never impaired, just speeding, so they flip me sh!t, tell me to have a nice day "BUT SLOW DOWN!", and cut me loose. I never give them a hard time, and always admit "a few miles over the limit"

I drove to NY a few months ago. Had a tail light out. Coming home I got stopped 4 times.
Every time they came to my window I was laughing. They immediately wanted to get serious, but when I explained it was "OK then, just let us run your info and we'll have you on your way". I even later sold one of the officers a video projector (why I went to NY, to deliver one). Even the a$$holes have little defense against someone trying to make their job easier. Anyone can be an a$$ if you give them reason to be. A traffic ticket is not a good reason to go to jail if you are not guilty of other charges as well. My thinking is.... If I were busted EVERY TIME there wouldn't be a next time best to take your lick and do your battle in court if you feel you need to.

I believe anyone who drives drunk should be pulled from their car and shot.... (Bush taught me that....prempted strike!  ) Seriously, I'm for just about anything that takes a drunk driver off the road, but "creativity" is best left to artists, not law enforcement. They have a habit of "making things fit". LOL. Drunk driving is a big issue. Too many innocents get killed that way. I lost classmates in school in drunk driving accidents. Some because the kids were drinking and driving but others where the kids were just driving home from games and movies. |

even if I am the designated driver and get pulled over for suspicion...i'd rather them be safe than sorry. if i'm not drinking then i have nothing to worry about...except someone puking in my car

TUCSON, Ariz. — Drunken Arizona drivers with the late-night munchies may soon be getting more than chicken strips at drive-through windows. The Pima County Sheriff's Department has a new campaign targeting drunken driving. Operation Would U Like Fries, or Operation WULF, will put undercover deputies inside 24-hour fast-food restaurants to spot impaired drivers placing their orders. Sgt. Doug Hanna, a DUI unit supervisor, says if deputies notice someone with classic symptoms of impairment — slurred speech, red or watery eyes or beer breath — they will have a uniformed deputy stationed outside pull the driver over. Hanna says money for the intermittent program is coming from a $128,000 grant from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety. cops aren't sneaky........this government is.......you just stated it............. No, the sheriff's department came up with the idea and got the funding for it from the governors office. |

I would like to say the majority of our officers are decent people who really care about our wellbeing..... I'd like to, many are, but not the majority. Maybe 20% will question you because they care, are satisfied with your answers and send you on your way, the other 80% are just looking for an excuse to use/abuse their power. Ego trip. i believe the majority are the good ones...the minority makes the good ones look bad. there are good and bad everywhere. doctors sexually abusing patients...lawyers gold digging. there are a lo that do their jobs because they really do care and the few ruin it and outshine the good ones just a thought I think they feed off each other. the "good ones" know who the "bad ones" are and do nothing to prevent them from doing what they do, instead they stand by the unwritten oath of "brotherhood". |

i guess those that drink should stop doing business with the fast food (joints that permit them to do this) at any time of the day
and pretty soon they will be out of business or complaining t city council and no it is not original they been doing it in towns around here for over 20 years |
