Driving around a track at high speeds in circles requres a high degeee of skill, but it would be the one I'd choose as NOT a sport.

Hmmmm...
1, 2, and 3 are sports.

Number 4 is the name of an organization that governs many different levels of motor SPORTS... you A$$!!! biggrin

Kinda like... Which of these is not a fruit:
Apple
Peach
Grape
Del Monte

How do you define the word 'sport'?

**EDIT**
I see that you do not see any of them as not being a sport. You are asking people to should one to disappear from the face of the earth.

I guess I'd choose boxing to go away.

Uhm, I'm going to have to agree with Waterloo. Nascar is a hobby/ interest, not a sport. Sports have to make you exert SOME phsycial effort in my opinion. Then again, I've never been in nascar, it could be the most physically demanding thing and i wouldn't know it.

nascar is low budget

I think you'd find that baseball is mostly a game of standing still and being ready for the ball to come near you.

Driving a racecar requires more ability, physical and mental, than you would believe.

Nascar is low budget? I hope you're being sarcastic...

football is a hobbie for gay men

We called the players 'lawn fairies' back in school. Short-shorts and fake injuries... no thanks.

What is the football/soccer culture like over there in England? From what I've seen in America, it's an excuse for suburban parents to get together on the weekends and act snobbish. Starbucks coffee, Volvo SUVs, and steaters tied around the waist. Then there are the players with their undeserved sense of superiority.

I agree with Nascar not being a sport. I've said before that as sad as it may be, I'd consider cheerleading more of a sport than Nascar. That at least requires some physical exertion.

One of my favorite quotes on Nascar:
"I never understood NASCAR until I met NASCAR fans. Once you talk to some of them, you start to understand how someone can be amused by shiny cars going in circles for hours on end."

*Don't want to offend any Nascar fans around here - just something I poke fun at towards friends and family that do like it. bigsmile*

sport

NOUN:

Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively.
A particular form of this activity.
An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively.
An active pastime; recreation.

Technically all of them are sports per say.

Opinion wise, Id say that out of those 4, I wouldnt put nascar down as a sport. Id have to classify it as an obsession.

Boxing is dead, UFC is killing it... so I would have to say "Boxing, due to attrition"...
