part of an internet relationship other than no real sex?

I believe it is the lack of non-verbal cues/responses. Much of the communication between two people is not verbalized. We can only guess the meaning of words, or lack, through this medium.

I've never actually had an online RELATIONSHIP. Friendships, yeah, but relationships? I don't know if I even could. I need cuddle time, I need to make food for my man (I just enjoy it, OK?), I need to invite him to hang out with friends... I really don't think I COULD have an online relationship...

The non-verbal cues, whether he really into you or chatting with 20 other women at the same time.

When you want to eat them you have to realize they live some odd thousands of miles away and it could be awhile before you can create the next fantastic dish with their flesh...err, wow, that just rolled pretty easy for me...erhm...

Sometimes you have to put your ears to the monitor and listen ever so carefully

You'll begin to be able to read them. ESP. If there's the connection. And you know if there's the connection

Then you relax. And take a nap and dream about the sex!!!

it took me a few months before i was able to actually meet robin in real life and i have to say that cam chatting with him was most effective in getting to know him.

providing the person is being honest and sincere (much the same in real life) chatting via IM is a great way to get to know someone. it forces you to be patient and not rush into a physical relationship and muck it all up, and there's somewhat of a safety net in talking about deep and personal feelings, without the small talk usually involved in quick meets.

if we're talking about strictly email (with no cams) then i'd have to agree with your quote above.

also, it'd be too easy to fake or manipulate your real life if you've never physically met their friends and family.

Distance, being far away when you are into someone.
I am spontaneous and don't have a lot of free time, so if I miracously have a couple hours free, I don't want to spend it driving or trying to coordinate a meeting place...drinks

i believe that the worst part of an internet relationship is the lack of physical touch......a huge part of a relationship has to do with touch and feeling the other person, from holding hands and seeing their reactions, to making love and knowing what they like

it is just all-around tougher....BUUUUUT, i wouldn't trade the relationship that i have now for a crummy one here in town...glad i don't have to worry about that anymore

I honestly think I'll meet HIM in college. I can't see meeting the one that can truly understand me in any other way.

I agree I'm having a great relationship with someone on line

He's everything I've ever wanted!! We learn somehong new bout each other everyday. Even our flaws!! It's beautiful

I think the physical part will be the icing on the cake!!! Just to hold his hand!!

Actually, I have given some guys chances whom I thought would work out despite them not being particularly "interesting" to me, but they never did. If anything, I have to RAISE my expectations, believe it or not.

Maybe that's why I seem picky now? I dunno. laugh

As for edumucated, you give me a guy who can quote Mark Twain to my face, you'll need a bucket to get me off the floor! drool

This is a big one for me. I have a warped sense of humor and am sometimes misunderstood. And, sometimes I have trouble when a man says something but I can't look him in the eye to see if he's sincere, or he'll sort of flub a compliment and get me mad, whereas if I were to see him and know his mannerisms, I might not get so testy about the compliment. We're all so awkward at times. And there's such a big difference between talking online and knowing each others' real life idiocyncracies and all. Get along great online and have no spark in reality, or you find out they are into all sorts of things or have nasty habits offline that make me cringe. The other thing with long distance is we are more prone to wonder all sorts of insane and inane things in our imaginations when the person isn't where we expect them to be, they are MIA for a day or so because we don't know what it's like on their end and they fell out of the "pattern" of communication.

can someone explain 'internet relationship' to me?

my take on it is that there is never any physical meet and that the person on each end can be whoever and whatever they choose to be.

however, i do believe that one can use the internet as a communication tool when involved in a long distance relationship.

are they the same or two different concepts?
