You hold the answers deep within your own mind.
Consciously, you've forgotten it.
That's the way the human mind works.
Whenever something is too unpleasant, to shameful for us
to entertain, we reject it.
We erase it from our memories.
But the imprint is always there.
Nothing is ever really forgotten.

To my knowledge, ptsd doesn't mean you don't have the memories that caused the disorder. Or at least many of them.

I wish I could reject things. I remember each and every painful memory like it all just happened.

it actually can happen. ptsd can occur relatively soon or years down the line after a traumatic event. for me it was about 6 years after i was hit by a car. i slipped into a deep depression. i come to find out at the time of the accident the doctors knew that it could be a possibility. They did not inform me at that time since it was only a possibility and not likely to happen. Once I found out everything made so much more sense.

It may not be forgotten, but that doesn't mean you have to dwell on it forever and let it ruin the rest of your life.

An absolutely wonderful read. I think you are right, nothing is ever really forgotten. Your subconscious remembers and prepares you for the future. I think that is where a gut instinct feeling comes from. Always trust your gut instinct.

That happens to be absolutely true. For the most part PTSD happens around 4 months after a trauma. I'm not aware that it blocks the trauma itself. Trauma/shock can just by the nature of it block a memory.
