Topic: Giver or receiver?

Take a look at your past relationships. Were you more of a giver, taker or receiver? I see a big difference between taking and receiving. I think that that we could gain a lot in insight into ourselves by seeing which one (or a combination) we are. BTW, this question does not refer to sex. Do some ppl give too much, do some take too much? Could that part of the reason the relationship failed?

Interesting question. I believe it is like anything else. There has to be a balance between giving and receiving. I personally have a hard time with nice things being done for me. Not sure why just feel kinda guilty. I guess it could ruin a relationship depending on the personalities. My 2 cents.............smokin

Hummmmm myself I've never been one to ask for anything from anyone and normally tend to tell them not to even buy me things. I would hope to think that I have gave them as much as they indeed have given me within the long run.

Never wanted to be looked at as one that made someone feel as if they were being taken advantage of.

So I would have to say that I have been a giver as much as a receiver.....biggrin

Definitely,, the emotional giver. I have always been quick to trust, to give benefit of the doubt, to make allowances, to have patience, to be supportive and understanding and I never have a hard time finding those who are quick to take all those things,, but not give them back.

But life is a lesson,,,,,none of us are done learning

I believe that you can never give too much! You can give someone the "world" but if the love is not there it is just a gift. Giving is always good karma, if you don't receive in return in this lifetime, perhaps your next one!

So sorry. Any lessons in that for you? Not implying anything, just asking.

I guess I tend to be a "giver". Don't really think about it, but people have pointed it out to me.

Gave a lot in my past marriage... so much so, that I forgot who I was and what I wanted out of life. After realizing that... and not getting necessary support when I had some emotional needs during some of my own crisis situations... kind of a major wake up call.

However, it does not make me jaded or want to give any less, just careful about who I trust and whether I believe they would be capable of giving anything in return if I ever needed any kind of support. I really think I have made myself self sufficient to a point where I don't need to lean on anyone. But it is a nice, warm feeling to know, that if for some reason unforeseen, I did actually need a hand, or a shoulder, I could count on a person.

Give and receive.

Give what felt 'right'...without censorship...

and receive with humbled acceptance.

Taking, is 'possessing'....

I love without attachment.....and accept that which is offered freely.
