i think we need to figure out how to sustain life in America....lost jobs, and homes in america...hmmm bigger issue to me As mirror was saying, all well and good, but killing off the space program does not miraculously solve these problems, does it? Let's say we got rid of the military too, shut everything down, no more armed services. That will free up more money to sustain life and build homes, right? Space research is part of America, a big part. Only a handful of nations have the knowledge, research, and resources to even have a space program, and we reap the benefits from what we learn. |

I really know Nasa needs the jobs but I think we could apply the money and the mind power to a lot better projects with a lot more potential. Be nice to see the technology be the goal rather than a left over side effect.
I just figure they are trying to justify something to do with the left over hardware. Or they are trying to get rid of something they don't want the general population to know "we" have. I would hate to see the moon become a floating landfill like earth has to some extent. Personally I think we should be doing more to understanding our water supply and specificlly our oceans. Didn't get hardly a mention but Obama did sign some landmark legislation that way. |

As usual politicians finding another excuse to waste millions instead of tackling the real issues.
I cant pass comment on the U.S.policies but in the UK politicians are looked on with total distain they feather there own nests then when they are booted out live a life of comfort on the taxes they screwed from the people. I have a better idea send them all to the moon and let them dig probably the first real work any of them have ever done. Anna x

Ummm....doesn't the economy need stimulating? Isn't there some way of looking at water pipelines from Canada, if water is an issue? Wouldn't that kind of cost the same? - ish? Wouldn't a pipeline create jobs, if water is an issue in the US? I'm lost other than figuring out a way of getting the politicians to all leave on the next blow em up rocket.... |

we are getting better on economy--but its peopler that lost their job are not trying hard enuff to find work--they simply wanna be on social security or some unemployment benefit-----to me--thats unamerican way of life-

For minimum wage I wasn't driving an hour or more one way to find work. Financially, that would make no sense. I did put money into unemployment, and I felt it gave me the option to wait and find something close to home. I still looked for work daily, but the economy did suck. It's not great now, but I work five minutes from home, and while it's not a wonderfully job, it's a job. As far as the space program goes, I think it's awesome. Personally, I'd rather my money be spent on space related things, then feed starving people in Africa who are to lazy to farm, or are allowing the crazy military sorts to rule, and who just won't stop breeding more starving children. However, I do feel we should clean up the garbage on this planet before throwing ourselves our there and junking up the universe. |

Oh ok..... quite a mighty global task, wouldn't you say? I suspect collectively, it will take the whole world's population spending the next 1000 years cleaning up....just what is already there. I know it sounds negative....however....some countries have had little regard for wastage, and garbage.... including both of ours.
