I have never gotten along with the other mommies...and seem to be different in my community. Screw em...their attitudes about you have nothing to do with you, just their need to be b!tchy and racist..

I'm sorry you are going through that. It takes time i think. We moved to a different country not knowing anyone, i found that making friends with people at work led to more friendships.
Good Luck flowerforyou

i know but it still gets me down its all the worst because in birmingham its so mixed here i feel a little isolated especially because im a billy no mates at the minute. also im into white men but because a lot of people here are racist and have no problem saying so, im starting to get the feeling that while im here i could be single for years to come. its funny because my son has only had one comment said to him which the school nipped in the bud (there good like that) but he has made loads of friends of different colours and he is happy i think now only time will tell on that one.

people are people, every one wants to change the world yet so few are willing to change themselves, the human nature of being sociable relies purely on the ability to adapt. if you are seeking just friendship then i suggest you look for that in place of common, maybe you have a hobby and that peers of similar interest could relate with. but it is hard to just inject into social clicks when you have no common interest. good people are and bad people are simply the product of ones perspective. thus it is the duty of the one who seeks friendship to establish it. i suggest inviting co-workers for gatherings or events. if all else fails...just remember every one is friendly at happy hour lol. good luck.

I've never experienced the racism personally but I see it all around me and it's very VERY annoying. However, all the other stuff, I know how you feel.. I just moved somewhere small and all the people seem to stare and quiety talk about you or others.. I just think to myself as long as I am not friends with those sort of people I do not have to worry about it.. I'd much rather be myself and have no friends then those kinds of people for my friends.. good luck to ya tho..

It's hard when you move to a new area. I'm in the midwest and I'm a yankee. It's tough, I learned what rascism was after moving here. It still makes me sad. I do smile every time my eight year old says "brown"... this morning he said, "there was this brown family, you know brown like Will Smith is brown, and they went in this house and can we see that movie?"

I'm glad your son at least hasn't had to bear much of it. Keep in mind there exist other transplants there. You'll find them!
