Topic: The Republican Party and race | |

I dont like to argue or fight on here (some exist just for that though) but the point was made that the Republican Party is the party of racism and I was just pointing out that the black Republicans don't think so ![]() |

According to history, Dems were the ones who were fighting to keep slaves. The original KKK was Democrat.
Lincoln, Repub., started the war to free da' slaves. Hussein has family who owned slaves. One was a perv who owned a 15 year old girl. ![]() Like Ruth says, both parties are playin' us. We need to find us representation outside both those parties. |

Frederick Douglass (born Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey, (born circa 1818 – February 20, 1895) was an American abolitionist, women's suffragist, editor, orator, author, statesman and reformer. Called "The Sage of Anacostia" and "The Lion of Anacostia", Douglass is one of the most prominent figures in African American and United States history.
He was a firm believer in the equality of all people, whether black, female, Native American, or recent immigrant. He was fond of saying, "I would unite with anybody to do right and with nobody to do wrong." |

Keep fighting. It's what the PTB wants. That way you won't see what is really happening. It's okay. We will all have to get along when we are in concentration camps. ![]() what is ptb? Powers That Be. Sometimes I use if for the gods and sometimes I use it for those "in charge" here on earth. I should have a way of differentiating the two. Oh, ok, thanks for the clarification. I really am not here fighting, just expressing my point of view. Im not a fighter at all, except maybe when I see bullies,,(pet peave of mine), otherwise, Fighting on a computer screen is a waste of space and energy. exactly I dont like to argue or fight on here (some exist just for that though) but the point was made that the Republican Party is the party of racism and I was just pointing out that the black Republicans don't think so I agree, neither party is a party of racism. Racists just tend to align more often with one party than the other...different thing |

alot of questions with personal bias with them
perhaps, but they are all true like I said, some people wont accept it because black Republicans are the wrong kind of blacks I dont know what the wrong kind of black is,,,but,,,I also never said I didnt accept any of it,,,I Am sure plenty of the details are facts,,, Someone on the other side could now find similar details supporting their belief about democrats support of african americans. My point being there is far too long a history of politics and far too many details to chose from to label one side any more definitively pro black than the other but most african americans I know who take part in the election process are voting on the issues that are important to them,,just like anyone else. The way I see it.... The " wrong kind of black " is the guy ( like Obama ) that a whole lot of African Americans had problems with because he wasn't " black enough ". Meaning, he spoke clearly, didn't use any street slang, respects women and wears a suit. |

Meaning, he spoke clearly, didn't use any street slang, respects women and wears a suit. well, I dont fit the definition given, in my immediate family are mostly people who are like obama in their speech and demeanor and in my extended family are people who speak in various dialects and languages and have various styles of dress and character. Black people in america have many different cultures depending upon region. Blacks in the south have different customs than blacks in the north, and blacks in the midwest have a slightly different culture than those...inner city black people have slightly different culture than suburban black people,, and so on... There is no 'wrong kind' of black , there are only black people with different experiences and lifestyles, and as a result, different opinions. |

I believe that QuietMan was referring to the wrong kind of blacks for the Democratic party. They are called "sell outs" and "Uncle Toms" I believe.

I believe that QuietMan was referring to the wrong kind of blacks for the Democratic party. They are called "sell outs" and "Uncle Toms" I believe. I believe those are the opposite 'kind of black' he described. The blacks he described would be opposed to what they considered sell outs and uncle toms. In the end though, either extreme does little good for progress in any party,, neither the type of people who believe to be black means one has to dress and speak a certain way, nor those who believe that some blacks are more black than others. In my opinion, the best type of person for progress is one who sees differences as an irreversible human condition and wishes to see all 'types' of people have a voice and a fair and equal shot at the 'american dream.' |

I'm not the one that calls em the wrong kind it's the liberals/democrats who seem to think that blacks are obligated to them and the ones who arent are considered to not be "real" black people whatever that means the only black folks I know are cowboys and ranch hands (and they hate Obama) |

right I'm not the one that calls em the wrong kind it's the liberals/democrats who seem to think that blacks are obligated to them and the ones who arent are considered to not be "real" black people whatever that means the only black folks I know are cowboys and ranch hands (and they hate Obama) I disagree that democrats think blacks are obligated to them. I dont think either party is holding guns to peoples heads when it comes to their choice of political affiliation. African Americans are no better or worse equipped to make their own political choices than anyone else is. I think it is kind of a setback when people look at a majority of black people voting for one person(when given two choices) as some proof that their choice was racist,,just because the person chosen was black. Gore and Kerry got a pretty predominant majority of the black vote as well, but for some reason( i will leave that up to the reader to decide for themself),,people didnt make the same racist assumption about WHY they got such a high percentage of the black vote. Sometimes, probably most the time, people just choose the one they believe to be the best candidate...plain and simple. |

I disagree that democrats think blacks are obligated to them. You disagree? Why don't you talk to some black conservatives and then make up your mind? |

and you know that it was the Republican Party who passed the Civil Rights legislature in the 60's The Southern Democrats filibustered trying to defeat it. The Democrats termed LBJ as a "traitor" to the party for pushing Civil Rights legislation ===================================================================== LBJ got the civil rights act passed but it was John Kennedy who was working on it and would of passed it if the texans had not killed him . the southern demo's were thrown out of the demo party shortly there after even thou they were voted in by a morjorty of the states voters . because the refused to let the blacks vote .... NOT MUCH DIFFERENT than today with the polically correct trying to pass laws to punish you fornot speaking correctly . Or useing words that make them wet there pants . |

I disagree that democrats think blacks are obligated to them. You disagree? Why don't you talk to some black conservatives and then make up your mind? On both counts,,why do you assume I havent? (spoken with black conservatives and made up my mind...) Thats not to say, that SOME in the party probably do expect the black vote just because ,,, but OVERALL I dont believe it to be the prevalant belief amongst constituents or politicians. |
