That many people have gone or are going through this.
I just started a job full time, a week later school started and I am a full time student as well. I DID NOT expect my Grandson to be born until next month and thought I had plenty of time to get "settled" and "organized" before he got here. Well he came 21 days early. So now I am dealing with work, school and going to Austin to see him. Helping my son and his g/f, because obviously no one was ready for this.

Now I am feeling a little overwhelmed. I am usually an organized person, but all of this has come too quickly.

Any ideas as where to begin to help me not feel so overwhelmed?

Where do I begin to get things sorted out?

You do have much on your plate right now..(kinda worried about you)

I have never experienced what you are. There was a time when the boys were much younger and I worked and went to school... it's a tough gig, bit I didn't have to make trips to help with a grandbaby.

Since you have no options as far as being obligated to keep up this pace..the down time is really important. You have to find a way to relax, and rejuvenate yourself in between, so you don't end up a basket case, or even physically sick.

I wish I was there to help ya..I'm here if ya need me. flowerforyou

In all seriousness, I find that the best way to get myself organized whenever things become chaotic is to take a moment, look at all what is going on, and then try to place some semblance of importance on each task. So to me, work is something that I do from 8-4, or 9-5, or whatever your hours are. So, when I am there, I focus on my job. School is always secondary to an adult. I mean, yeah, we place importance on it (and it is) but it can be manuevered a bit because it isn't (a) our source of income right now and (b) we all have family and friends..so we have life to deal with. If you are in an accelerated program, then you probably have tons of homework. Well, just try and get the important assignments done, or work out a way that you can get them done. Basically, I do what I can to not let all of it overwhelm me at once. These are things that must be dealt with, so just try to get yourself centered and then look at things and try to figure out what is most important to do now, what can wait a bit, and what can be held off for a bit. I find when you do that, things don't seem to be all that bad.

I hope that made sense.laugh

I am sooooooo use to life being MY WAY. I just feel like I have taken 3 steps forward and yanked 10 steps back. I want to see my grandson, he is the love of my life...I want to go to school and I want to work. I just did NOT expect all of this to pile on in a two week time frame.

Yes Lo, I do know you are here and thank you

Goof, it may sound crazy, but you did makes lots of senseflowerforyou

Change is always challenging to step into. You had a plan, a good plan..to work and get back to school..then the baby came early and so just makes it more challenging.

Find an outlet for down time..Goof's advise on school work is very good. Time flies so fast..this overwhelming part will pass soon. Stay positive, do what you can and enjoy the opportunities..
I know we all get sick of hearing this...be grateful, focus on how fortunate you are. So many not working, so many without the opportunity to go to school, so many sick babies.
Your overwhelment is positive.... many times that is what gets me through times...how fortunate I am to be able to have this overwhelming positive experience come in to my life.

Along with Goof's suggestions, I would add MAKE Lists of what you have to get done. Sometimes my brain goes on overload when I have alot going on and find if I write it down when I think of it. I don't have to keep thinking about it because it is there in black and white as a reminder. Plus for me it is great satisfaction to be able to cross it off the list.

Good Luck! Holding your grandson will be all worth it!

Could you put off school for a semester? That would give you some time to see how much time you can devote to it... Just a thought.

Prioritize, do what NEEDS to be done and don't sweat the small chit.
Make sure you get enough rest and eat healthy.
Take it one day at a time.

Thanks guys.

I have put this off for 22 years. I know it sounds selfish, but I don't want to give up something that I have wanted for a long time.
