Dateing across race lines has plenty or stress because people do see race and generally have even more reason to put their big nose where it is not wanted or needed.

If support and approval of friends and family is important to you then you probably should stay within the boundries of what they will generally support. If your personal happiness and being with someone you genuinely are attracted to is more important then you should date who you please.

Sad to say there people who will not date someone who does date across race lines so you do have to be willing to deal with the fall out should you go against the norm in your community. Generally speaking men do seem to be very territorial about the women they date and don't take it well when they find out later that they have been at some point or another made to compeate outside of their race. Believe me if you do the word will get around.

The whole concept of being sneaky is ridiculous and doomed for failure. It is a small world and someone will know and tell at the least desireable moment to be sure. Especially if you have clearly predjudiced "friends"; and I use that term loosely.

My personal opinion is to pick a person for their like values and personality and let the physical markers fall where they may. To date a person solely because of the shade of their skin is racist if you are defineing some one into race categories at all. I have dated just about every race out there and even combinations there off and I can tell you that what defines a good guy from a bad one is yet to been defined by the shade of his skin. White guys have no immunity to being a creep nor do they have any special edge on being sucessful. Or being a good partner.

Sadly some people do discriminate within even generally defined categories. Think about this if you do submit to your friends definition of only dateing "black" guys are you also going to let them decide who is "black" enough? Does he have to be the generally middle of the road tone, the truely Dark African black, or can he be the typical mixed blood light skin black commonly found in the middle class America? Would President Obama be "black" enough? What if he is say a black from England or say Egypt?

Looking at your photo you look rather young so I am sure you think that your friends now are going to be your life long friends but it is highly likely in the digital age you are going to continue your career and probably your job and standard of living will have more to do with who you associate with than who you grew up around. Highly likely you will live far from most of those friends soon as you follow a career. Pleaseing them is not going to be as important as it may now seem.

That said your family will always be your family and I would think more about how they are going to handle your choices because in hard times your family may be all you have to fall back on. If you burn those bridges by ignoreing their boundries you may find life very tough.

I would sooner think he doesn't want them knowing he is seeing a gal who doesn't hold him to higher standards than the way you are allowing him to use you or you use him. FWB is a loose loose situation either way you look at it. Cut your losses and find someone who is proud to be seen with you regardless of your private life choices.

People who have a problem with skin colour forget a few major things.
If you strip the outside layer of skin, we all look pretty much the same. It's strong cultural differences that can interfere, at times.
Instead of colour, think more along the lines of how well you get along, interests, how they react when they get angry or upset, how they respect life- from people to animals. You can learn alot about people when you watch how they problem solve their life, if they accept suggestions, even down to their sense of humor..just remember it's your life and only you know whats best for you. Sometimes another can help your make decisions if they are objective just try to be true to yourself above all.

this stuff affects business/work too...there are case studies to suggest that managers who only date a certain race are less tolerant of others in the workplace as evidenced by a decrease in employee morale and an increase in lawsuits when compared to managers who date more than one race..the correlation is high and can't be discounted due to a statistical anomaly or chance..
