"When in the course of human evens, it becomes necessary for one" group of beaten-down, oppressed people to STAND UP to an arrogant mob of power-drunk, lying, ruling thieves, and STOP them from ROBBING the oppressed group of their right to "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" ... hey, you just gotta DO SOMETHING to STOP the slimy bastards!

WE JUST DID!

No wonder the Republicans, born-again "Christians", Sarah Palinistas and Tea-Baggers want the words of Thomas Jefferson deleted from America's school text books! His founding words CERTAINLY stand in DIRECT OPPOSITION to the "holy" thoughts of the perverted, far-right, fascist fear-mongers that infect our government now!

Yes, the bill (conglomeration of bills, in the end, really) is FAR from perfect. But, it is one "GIANT LEAP" in the CORRECT direction! We can improve it as we go along (After the Bush Depression REALLY sets in, there's not gonna be nearly as many GOPigs and throw-back, Southern-fried "Democrats" elected to Congress - so, less obstructionism.).

WHY has it proven to be SO difficult to get this bill through Congress? Yes, Obama HAS proven to be a "bit" of an "Oreo" (Black on the outside. Wall Street on the inside.) But, Nancy Pelosi has proven to be just as strong as Obama is weak.

The MAIN mistake in our assessment of conditions, is that NOBODY has clearly estimated the AMAZING amount of harm Baby Bush did to ALL areas of American society. It's HUGE! This is the tip of the iceberg. The spirit, courage, hope and foresight of the American People is at its lowest ebb in a century! And, for good reason.

Bush, was not only a CLASSIC power-drunk, elitist Republican. He was also an IDIOT! And, he messed things up GOOD, for a LONG, LONG time to come.

This bill is a GIANT LEAP BACK from the precipice of financial and cultural chaos. It will SAVE 138 billion dollars, for starters. No, it's not much in these times. But, that be good, NOT bad!

And, it will greatly help loosen the grip that the insurance companies and pharmacy companies have on America, through their stooges in Congress, the Republicans. IE: They will have a MUCH harder time increasing YOUR insurance and drug bill.

It is estimated that the seven-year war (so far), in Iraq (alone) has actually cost YOU over $3 TRILLION (when you add in perennial health care for the wounded etc., IF that really does happen for our veterans.)What the government SAYS it's cost, so far, for our perennial wars, is nearly $1 trillion. Notice how the admitted cost of our wars-for-nothing is about the SAME as our NEW HEALTH CARE BILL.

WHY, if it was SOOOOOOOOOO necessary for us to spend a few trillion bucks on some war, or two, or three, in a faaaaaaaaaar away land, is it SOOOOOOOOOOOO wrong, un-American and "immoral" for us to spend the SAME 1 trillion on saving AMERICAN babies, AMERICAN mothers, AMERICAN old people, AND the AMERICAN MIDDLE CLASS?

**** IRAQ, IRAN, AFGHANISTAN, SYRIA! WHAT have THEY ever done for us?

It's time we got OUR own collapsing house in order! Screw the "splinter in your neighbor's eye" (or, whatever the Biblical quote is). Worry about the kid (YOUR kid) that's sick in your OWN house.

The Teabaggers and other Right-Wing lunatics hurled insults and spit on Black American Congressmen, a few days ago. Gee, do YOU think there's possibly a link between the OLD Conservative America (pre-JFK/LBJ) and this new, fascist, ignorant, throw-back,, Palin-IS-The-Second-Coming movement? They claim it's all the Black folks fault, because ONLY they will make use of this new American "handout".

There are 40 million Americans without health insurance, right now. They AIN'T all Black or Mexican! Do the math, oh righteous ones!

Welcome, America, to the REAL world. You were the ONLY industrialized country on Earth that didn't have Universal Health Insurance (You kinda do now.). Yeah, MEXICO has Universal Health Insurance.

If you've ever wondered just how bad our mean, dumb-***, 'ol fart dinosaurs that run America, really are (as compared to ALL the other countries' ********), well, now you know. American JUST crossed the finish line (finally), in LAST place (We got beat by South Africa - bummer!).

Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, Sarah Palin, and all the new, new neo-Con-Jobbers have been warning President Obama about how this is going to kill all hopes of the Democrats holding Congress in November.

First of all, have you EVER heard any of those Paleolithic, perennial liars EVER tell the truth about ANYTHING? Secondly, do you REALLY think they'd try to offer honest, good advice to Barack Obama? And, thirdly, what DIDN'T they want the easily-manipulated American Public to see? Try THIS:

You neighbor's kid is going to be able to get treatment in August, for that pre-existing asthma condition! Your daughter can have that brain clot removed in June! You can GET insurance, even though you have cancer, and get some help, in July! The old guy down the block can get his broken hip fixed, in May!

May, June, July, August come BEFORE November elections. Duhh!

In short, YOU can begin, NOW, to start to believing again, that YOU live in America! And, the Big Boys don't OWN you. And, they no longer can JUST LET YOU DIE, without hope of seeing a doctor, if they feel like it. And, YOU can exert your RIGHT to LIFE, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness!

CHANGE is FINALLY coming, America. It's been slow. But, Bush was BAD (And, Palin's worse. And, the Right-Wing bad guys are still BAD guys. And, THEY ALWAYS lie and rip YOU off.)!

Slap a Republican on the back today. Smile, and wish
him a good morning! God Bless the United States of America.

Wow, you are very passionate huh?...

Well, I share the sentiment about the bill getting this far, kind of like how I felt when OBama won the nomination,,, Im going reserve my THRILL for when it is actually so and the bill has passed its FINAL votes,, like when OBama was finally sworn in.

We have made a step, but we arent there yet,,,

The American people won, not the legislatures.

The American people should have medical care at all times, no matter what their economic situation.

This bill is far from what is needed but it is the first step and the hardest one.

Now we will be able to use it to make all the right changes.

How did the American people win if they weren't even playing in the game? The American people should have had a vote on this issue. How many Americans don't even watch news or have any idea what just happened? Not sure they are going to be too happy to when they start getting bills from our government to pay mandatory insurance for the rest of their lives. From what I have read anyone making over $10,000 a year would have to buy insurance.

correct me if Im wrong, but generally(except for local issues) Americans vote in representatives and senators to REPRESENT them on federal legislation. The number of bills and proposals that go through those two houses (again Im only using what seems like common sense) would be FAR too numerous to hold a nation wide vote each time.

AS far as anyone being surprised, that is a long ways off as this is only a first step in FINALIZING healthcare reform.

As far as a bill to pay insurance,, I think it will be a surprise at tax time when one has to answer whether they have carried insurance. Even then, I think only those living under a rock will not have been made aware by that time.

It wont be there until the the court battles are done, which will work it's way to the Supreme Court, and we already know how thats going to play out(Conservatives have the majority) and this unconstitutional bill will be put down.

I think it will pass, just as the seatbelt laws, the laws regarding the 'war on drugs' and the patriot act,,,all of which could be argued to be 'unconstitutional' because the constitution doesnt mention them specifically.

Its possible it wont, it made me nervous that OBama publicly spoke to the supreme court regarding dont ask dont tell policy,,that could hurt this bill if they are petty enough to hold grudges(which attorneys and judges have been known to do)

Its all up for legal argument, it just depends upon which side has more numbers,,,basically.

This bill goes farther than medical care. Its just the beginning of government running our lives.

We haven't 'won' anything. At best we have compromised. In order to 'win' we'd need a single payer system similar to France or U.K. They have the best systems so far. What we have now is better than what we had yesterday, but it is still sadly lacking from what it should be.

And Republicans have more numbers on the court it's a 5-4 vote in favor of Republicans. This bill is dead.

It also didn't help that Obama used his State of the Union address to attack the branch of government that will end up deciding the fate of this bill. laugh

The Supreme Court is not of a party..it's not meant to be and you guys seem to act like you still own things...you don't...well except for the disasters you caused....no, they just interpret the Constitution. The bill will stand...may not even be heard.

Try a civics class sometime.

Glad you didn't say worst, because that wouldn't be true. It is light years ahead of what the U.S. has. Mandating insurance only helps the insurance companies, not the people who need it shades

Pat yourselves on the back and keep reminding yourselves that you 'won' AFTER you start seeing your taxes go UP and your coverage go DOWN ... remember, the $500 BILLION 'The ONE' has stolen from MediCARE is being given to MediCAID ... and yes, I DO resent that. Yeah - you 'won'. Can you say 'Pyrrhic' ... ?
