I'm just wondering, with in a pretty diverse group of people such as we have here on Mingle ..

How many are out of work right now?

I was laid off 18 mos ago and have yet to find a good fit in the corporate world I am used to.

What about you?

I count my blessings having a Job period. Back before the Economy went south I used to work for AOL and was making upwards $75,000. They decided to close the Jacksonville Location and I had to find new work. I settled and I am so missing my former paychecks. Taking a 50% paycut just to have a job was something else. I hope the best fit for you comes along real soon.

I came back to school a couple of years ago and decided to devote all my time to that endeavor. So school IS my job, and I am willingly otherwise unemployed...at this point anyway.

Well you are furthering your chances for a better career .. that's ALWAYS smart. And all the incentives out there make it a wise choice too.

i have 2 jobs, doesn't come close to what i was making before...but before, i was miserable...now, although the pay is much less, its easier and less stressful, there are however lower paying jobs that are both low paying and even more stressful, but luckily, I have two that are very easy...not to say it will be easy for everyone, just easy for me...the current positions are akin to placing a heavyweight in a lightweight division..

I suppose that's why it's easy for you

I know a LOT of people who are working two jobs just to get by. Glad I haven't had to consider that. Well, not yet anyway

I am employed, with a nice pay cut. But, I am really happy to have a regular job! The insurance makes it worth while.

I consider myself to be quite fortunate. In March 2009 my company gave the employees the option of taking a 5% paycut in order to keep anyone from being laid off. We had 500 employees at the time. We voted and the paycut won. No one was let go and no other benefits were taken away. In July we will get 2 1/2% of that paycut reinstated with the other 2 1/2 scheduled to be given back at the end of the year. I am proud to work for a company where we look out for each other.

Well I have just made 14 months on unemployment. Believe me you learn real quick to budget what you get in order to pay bills ect.... For sure when I go back to work I will have a total different outlook on how I spend my money....whoa

I am fortunate enough to work for a company that made cuts (I was in charge of these) every place they could to not cut employees... We didn't get pay cuts b/c the company is doing very well in spite of the economy but we did go 18 mos without increases or bonuses which is nothing compared to what so many have and are going through...

Be glad you have the benefits! I did sub contracting...
I had to live on my savings...
Even with the taxes I paid, no benifits.
