I agree. I don't believe in Karma as something rewards or punishes outside of myself. It is simply the consequences of my actions. I also don't believe that karma "follows" me from one lifetime to another. I don't come back needing to be punished for actions in a previous lifetime. I simply make choices in this lifetime and they either have positive or negative consequences in this lifetime.

I believe in blessings and miracles and I believe there are people who are experts at creating illusions,,,,some would classify these things as 'magic'

I agree,about doubting Karma is a punishment carried over from previous Lives. But I think that We need to learn certain specific Karmic lessons that Life presents Us with,in order to progress Spiritually. I also think that those things coming back to haunt are the chance,or do over to learn the particular lesson.

Yes, I am more inclined to look at karma that way as well. I believe we do have lessons to learn in life and if we don't learn those lessons and evolve we have to do it again. So, in some ways, that could be viewed as a punishment.

Actually, based on the types of questions he's been asking I think he would do much better to get a book on Alchemy.

There are many books that cover this topic. Actually Deepak Chopra covers Alchemy in his "Way of the Wizard", which can be had in either book form or on DVD.

Christopher Penczak's Temple of Witchcraft books also cover Alchemy on many different levels. In fact, his entire series of 6 books is basically the journey of Alchemy as taken by the witch. Ironically, book #4 in that same series "The Temple of High Witchcraft" is also a complete course on Alchemy in its own right via the Qabalah.

However, there are many other stories of this journey as well, via Faery Teachings, or even some forms of Buddhism.

Here's a test on Alchemy that supposedly will reveal where you are at in your Alchemy journey. (Every human is on this journey whether they realize it or not).

However, if you are not an Alchemist (i.e. you don't fully understand what Alchemy is), then a good thing to do is to read all of the test results to see where you came from, and where you are heading.

I found the explanations on this site to be pretty good. But then again, I've been studying the art of alchemy for quite a while now and so it's all starting to make a lot of sense to me. My quiz result seems to be pretty accurate based on where I thought I am in the process.
