I actually thought about trying one of these out. Just to see how it was. I mean.....life is too short. Get out of the comfort zone and partay!!!!!!

ive been to quite a few.. well a camp out and several ones with the same group to go dancing... most all were single.. some already hooked up.. however one thing i noted about them... is a lot of swapping going on.... like they date for short time.... sleep with them.. then move on to the next one... most there werent my type.. seem to be for a lot just a place to hook up.. not really my style....but some werent like that.. it was a low percentage though.. the camping we bought our own space and food etc... and same as the dance thing... i did get some cheap people steal my drinks too while i danced.. how gross! so i guess i bought someone a couple of 6 dollar drinks.. i just have no clue who... and they took them after i took a few sips off of them too... nasty!

I really like this site.. http://www.meetup.com/ I have gone to a few meetups. you meet people that like doing things you do and its not a "singles" function. Just a group having fun. This is a great site. I don't actually belong to a group specific to singles, but there are a lot of great groups on there. I've met some really good people. For anyone just looking to meet some new people in your area, definitely check out this site. You can join groups based on interest, age or find singles groups. I've found that the singles groups around here tend to go to clubs too much, so I prefer others. But, I've made friends to go out with, volunteer with and just spend time with. It has been fun. It's a no pressure way to meet new people. |

To add onto what I wrote before, I had joined one of the singles meetup groups in the past. Most were quite a bit older than I was and really focused on trying to meet someone to date. It wasn't much fun and I did not stay for long.
|

So I checked out that meetup site that a few people mentioned, and joined a couple of groups. Have a meetup next Thursday, and it sounds like it'll be fun... nothing to do with dating, just Guys doing guy things. Thanks to those of you that mentioned that site.

A lot of the groups on meetup have nothing to do with dating. However, many people do end up meeting someone to date. It's a good way to find people who have the same interests and make new friends as well. Have fun with it.

I checked out meetup too but I don't see any groups I would want to join. My friends and family keep me plenty busy I just need a MAN

It's a good way to find people who have the same interests and make new friends as well. Have fun with it. I went to my first 'meetup' group last night!! It's called Booze and Books The premise of the group is to read books and discuss over booze! I read the book, "Engulfed in Flames - David Sedaris", and we meet at a wine bar for the group discussion. It was so fun!!! There were very cute guys but I actually forgot all about being single and looking and just had a great time being with people who are intellectual and drunk! I have another meetup group next week: "Epicurious" a gourmet dining group. They are having a wine and food pairing party. Next month is my first Adventure Group event: we are hiking for 10 hours. |

Ever been to one? What was your experience like? Are they worth the effort and money? Well gosh I don't know if I have or not. I've been to parties with lots of singles. But they didn't have a title. Should they have? Would they have?

Should they have? Would they have? The parties I'm referring to are specifically organized for singles to meet other singles. The sort you are referring to would be a much better option, if I ever got invited to any...

Should they have? Would they have? I have a huge social life with my friends too. We go to parties, my friends are musicians, and we are always "somewhere" downtown pub crawling. The problem is - I know everyone. I wouldn't date them!
