Sarah Palin is toxic

Commentators keep telling us how influential Sarah Palin's endorsements are, and even if the whole "mama grizzly" meme is clearly overstated, there's no quibbling with the fact that Palin has pull among GOP primary voters.

But the more interesting point to be made about Palin is how toxic she's become among the broader electorate. In fact, buried in the internals of the new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll is an amusing number: A majority see a Palin endorsement as a clear negative.

The poll asked people how they'd respond if a Congressional candidate had various hypothetical attributes. Asked how they'd feel if a candidate were "endorsed by Sarah Palin," the response was....

Enthusiastic about this attribute 8

Comfortable with this attribute 17

Have some reservations about this attribute 15

Very uncomfortable with this attribute 37

So a majority, 52%, reacted negatively. And an astonishing 37 percent would be "very uncomfortable" about a Palin endorsement, more than four times the eight percent who would be "enthusiastic" about it.

Even better, there were only two attributes a candidate might have that were seen as worse than a Palin endorsement: Supporting Bush's economic policies; and supporting the elimination of various Federal agencies and/or Social Security.

Obviously those pointing to Palin's influence are only concerned with her impact among GOP primary voters. But the above finding is another mark of just how toxic Palin has become to the rest of the world -- and how out of sync with public opinion the media obsession with Palin's influence really is.

Well even if the poll isn't accurate, there are some people who at least think about things with some logic.

She is a lunatic.

She's almost as big a loser as Hussein Obamanation, in fact they should start a bowling team.

It seems to me, and I could be wrong, but most intelligent people see through her rhetoric. Once you get past that, there isn't much substance left.

A moderate Republican like me has no use for her. But I think Reagan was a fool, so most Republicans wouldn't want me around. I'm a Goldwater Republican.

The only thing Regan did that I thought was completely wrong was granting all the criminal entrants amnesty.

now, suppose that they took the poll outside of New York and Boston? Lets take a poll in the southern or western, or any ot the non-metropolitanized states, bet the results would be significantly different. In fact, let me take one of those scientific polls around here, say a 300 mile radius and ask about opinion of B. Hussein, I bet his approval rating would be somewhere around 1 - 5% maximum, and his disapproval rating would be around 80 - 85%, that with a straightforward question. If you have ever been involved in those polls, you will find that they are targeted to give a specific result, if the result is different than you want, then you "adjust" the numbers to match what you wanted.

I can't believe there are still people out there who still take her seriously.

Well when polling Obama you have to allow a big margin of error for the racists in the country.

None of his polls can be right because of that element.

And quite a few of those say they dislike him for other reasons seem to show racist ideology in all other areas around their dislike of him for unblack reasons.

As for Palin, she doesn't have that problem.

Well, while off topic, I didn't like that Reagan raised income taxes on the lower and middle class. He wasted billions on a star wars defense, built thousands of nukes we'll never use. He ran up the national debt and made it so the defense department takes the overwhelming majority of the national budget.

Does any of that sound conservative to you?

Like the Will Rogers quote, that's a great one. However, I'm from rural Kansas and I think Palin is an idiot. So is McCain for putting her on the national stage.

I have yet to see a fiscally conservative conservative in office.

They claim it.

They never show it.

Three things that tell me how uncredible this poll is. Wall Street Journal, NBC and Washington Post. rofl

Keep in mind that Reagan was merely a tool of Neoconservative intellectuals, not a real conservative in his own right.

Typical Liberal scare tactic, RACISM. You can't dislike Obama without being labeled a racist. I cant stand Biden too so am I racist against white people? I cant stand Salazar because in the senate he voted to lift restrictions on offshore drilling(can anyone say BP disaster), so I guess im racist against hispanics, I cant stand Janet Nap(however you say her same) so I must hate women.

No scare tactic needed.

Racism exists and it is obvious when it comes to the president.

It is a fact so the liberals can't scare people with it. It is just a fact of America.

Sounds to me like you hate everyone equally, so therefore, you can't be racist??

Statism and imperialism also exist and it is obvious when it comes to the president, but I don't see you complaining about that. slaphead

It's not a fact it's a scare tactic. The same kinds of things are said about Reid, Pelosi, Biden etc. and well they obviously arn't black. Actually if I remember correctly Harry Reid even made one of the most racist remarks I have heard in a long time about Obama, and I didn't see you nor any other member of the Looney Left criticize or say anything about that.....

Go figure.
