Topic: So then...... Europe?

I must say that I thoroughly enjoy the Europeans on this site with their
non-stop condemnation of the American public, its policies, and its
government. I am sure that must get really boring at times but it does,
of course, give you an "out" from having to examine the issues you face
in your own country as well as your model governments. Use this post to
complain about the three fingers pointing back at you. Oh, and I hope
you will extend the same courtesy to the Americans on this site and
allow us to ad-lib. Bi*ch away!

I'm English. And I don't ***** or try to drag ANY government down. It's
just that the English/European sense of humour is slightly more stinging
at times.
So I stick Four fingers and a thumb up and say, 'High five

well i guess if ya want to get into the Dutch....oh oh oh !!!

not a pretty track record...'apartheid' is the only dutch word, the
whole world understands.frown ...and then there was Srebenizasad
sad noway grumble

but what happens here , though it may have consequences, does not
measure close to the consequences of American policy/ies......so that's
why
it seems to be the easiest target to aim for....it's not to be taken so
personally or maybe it is in the sense that if you people really do
believe in all the things you boast america proud of, you will stand up
NOW and demand some answers and MAKE some changes.

but anyway ...it's not meant to make ya'all feel belittled, but more to
shake you up to a huge global view...to rally you to really BE AMERICANS
the one's we wanted to participate with on all levels and looked to for
models in developement and evolution.

well said, Bl8ant... I think the US, for better or worse, has been one
of the most powerful and influential nations in the world, since WW2.
This will change in the future - hell, it might be China, that paragon
of human rights, whose throwing their weight around in 30 years.

Its appropriate, I think, to direct one's attention and criticism
towards the entity wielding its power in the world.

Like Mass, I agree that we are a country within world view. Those who
attempt to shake the citizens of this country awake are quite welcome to
do so. There is a huge apathetic community within it's borders. I
know, because I too try to shake them up.

There is a way of life here, that includes a rather imposing system.
Many view this system as the very thing that stops us from being a
democracy. It does seem that recently, in the last decade or so, the
system is a hindrance
but it has worked, can work, if WE, the citizens make it work.

It's important that those who answer the wake call, respond with more
than just opinion. We need to make others aware of the system we are
confronted by, and what we, each of us does to make it work. In this
way, the issues we are called to evaluate do become personal, because we
are all asked to make an accounting to the world.

Wake up America, don't just be counted, be ready to make an accounting
of yourself to the world, who questions you as an aware, involved
citizen. Being counted is easy, just an opinion, party means nothing,
if you can not be held accountable for the actions of those you support.

Well. Over the last hundred years or so what have the large countries
been doing? Russia with Stalin and Lenin had a fine record. Cold war
follow up was quite cute too. Mao had a knack for managing the Chinese.
Seems he had a nice support structure there. Germany had a nice run with
taking over the world with WW1 and WW2.

In the mean time the United States tried to do what it could to protect
the freedom of its own citizens and those of other countries as well. It
remains a beacon of light for the countries smart enough to recognize
and admire good works and philanthropy.

Bashing this country does not help with international situations much.
More likely it is a self-centered self-aggrandizing hypocrisy in most
cases.

what were only good enough to model after if we're doing something that
involves us giving money to someone else, god forbid we have a view that
doesnt agree with the rest of the world-0

heres a freaking thought- if the rest of the world was so flipping great
and smart wouldnt you want to be modeling yourself after them? but it
isnt so you keep looking to us, must be good for something- so take your
shots, they are nothing more than envy...
heres another thing, even if god forbid we're wrong about something at
least we are smart enough to do something about it, and when the problem
gets fixed and people stop bltching guess what- you still wont be an
american- take your shots, they dont mean shotty nothing.
