Topic: Turn the Fox OFF!

I wasn't talking about any other news source. I was simply saying I don't find Fox to be trustworthy.

They're all biased. I tend to watch/read different news sources to get a bigger picture, rather than just left/right.

How many people were polled? Where were they from? Ages? There are lots of factors. Just stating that there's a poll that says everyone thinks something doesn't mean it's absolutely accurate. I just have a hard time believing that in reality, people think Fox is a trustworthy news source.

Public Policy Polling (PPP) is an American, Progressive, and Democratic Party-affiliated polling firm based in Raleigh, North Carolina. They are one of the top rated polling companies in the world.

I kinda find it funny that a left leaning polling company would find that Fox News is the most trusted. That's hott..........laugh

I get the news from different places so I am not just hearing one side. There are at least two sides to every story so in order to get to the truth you have to know all sides.

I am always searching for the truth.

Fox News Channel is so far right that you will be lucky to get any truth from them. I know I have watched the damn channel.

its personal taste and style,, American Idol was huge initially because there was a big market for personalities like Simon Cowells

people wish they could go ahead and be nasty to others and to see it justified on television gives them an out in their everyday lives,,

nastiness and sensationalism sale, and nothing's new

some people want to see women the way the Lifestyle channel presents them and others want to watch the way playboy presents them

likewise, some want the facts presented in traditional news cast form and watch the local news others want facts presented with 'PASSIONATE' inferences and opinions and watch cable networks instead,,,, to each their own

If they would just classify Fox News Channel as Fox Rightwing entertainment channel, I would have no problem with Fox.

They are misleading the people to classify it as news and fair and balanced is a downright lie.

our educational systems and homes need to teach critical thinking and rear people away from the instant gratification and instant information they have become accustomed to

it starts in the community, I saw violent movies my whole life, but at home I was taught against violence and that was reinforced in school, so I didnt grow up to be a violent person

likewise, I was taught to think critically, to recognize the uncertainty of words like 'alleged', 'experts', and a whole string of other qualifiers that are indicative of something not being an actual PROVEN fact

many people just believe whatever someone with the title 'commentator' or 'newscaster' says as FACTUAL

but like I said, its because we have become a culture which accepts our information the same way we expect our gratification,, instantly

Oh, now I get it.

I'll paraphrase the complaints against FOXNews:

Waah. FOXNews isn't part of the media arm of the Democratic Party like the other American news outlets.

Waah. FOXNews is opposed to turning the USA into the United Socialist States of America.

Waah. The unofficial motto of FOXNews celebrities is "In God We Trust". Their motto should be "In Government We Trust".

Waah. If people watch FOXNews, then they might be exposed to facts that undermine my social/political beliefs.

Waah. I want FOXNews censored so that it cannot promote the values shared by millions and millions of Americans.

Waah. I don't want FOXNews to reveal that millions and millions of Americans don't agree with my social/political beliefs.

Waah. FOXNews keeps reporting facts that contract my beliefs.

Waah. FOXNews reveals truth, but I can't always handle the truth.

Waah. FOXNews is the most-watched cable news network. It is part of the American mainstream.

Waah. I do not want to be reminded that my own beliefs may not be part of the American mainstream.

Waah. I do not know the difference between the objective news programs on FOXNews and the subjective commentary programs on FOXNews.

Waah. I want FOXNews to be turned off so that people will have one less choice of news networks.

Waah. My definition of truth is based on what pleases my flesh. I don't want to admit that I might be subjective when it comes to defining "truth".

Waah. FOXNews gives both sides to stories. I do not want both sides. I only want the side that pleases my flesh.

Waah. All media outlets have some biases. I only accept the media outlets that have the same biases that I have.

Waah. I can see the biases revealed on FOXNews, but I am blind to the biases revealed on other news networks.

Waah. I complain about FOXNews, but I do not want to state what standard that I am judging FOXNews by.

Waah.

For the record, I do not watch Hannity and Beck. Occasionally I watch O'Reilly, and when I do, I keep seeing him having guests from both sides of the political aisle. "Special Report" always has commentators who are the political opposites of each other.

The Fox Report is purely a news program.

I don't always agree with what commentators say on FOXNews, but I do not go around asking people to turn off FOXNews. Please don't tell me to turn off FOXNews because I am an adult, and I can decide for myself if FOXNews is worthy of my viewing.

Complain about FOXNews? Yes. Tell others to stop watching? No.
If you want censorship of the media, then move to Venezuela. I am certain that Hugo Chavez would welcome you.

whoa

FOXNews is fair and balanced.

The reason that FOXNews is so popular is because it it fair and balanced.

However, the results are not to your liking.

For a long time I didn't believe the "Fair and Balanced" claim. Then I started watching and discovered the claim to be accurate.

Al Sharpton, Alan Colmes, Bob Beckel, Kirsten Powers and Susan Estrich are FOXNews regulars, and they are solid supporters of the Democratic Party.

Who is telling you to turn off Fox? I don't care what you watch. But don't tell me it's a completely trustworthy news source either. You're a big boy. You're able to decide what you want to watch just as the rest of us are able to decide what we want to watch.

guess it depends upon what one defines as fair or balanced

FOXNews tries to get people on both side of an issue to appear on its programs. The network seeks comments from all people featured in its stories.

Bill O'Reilly in particular is always having guests who have opinions that conflict with O'Reilly's opinions. I have heard Bill criticize other FOXNews personalities whenever he thought they were wrong. I have heard Bill apologize for errors of his making. Bill is always mediating debates on his program, with debate participants being polar opposites. He gives people with opposing viewpoints opportunity to present their arguments. That is what I call fair and balanced.

We need to keep in mind that FOXNews features both news programs and political programs. I consider it foolish to characterize the news programs as being non-news programs.

Other news networks have their own political programs with commentators who are overtly biased. Yet those networks are still considered to be news networks. When I read/hear someone call FOXNews a non-news network, I detect a double standard being used.

How am I to know that FOXNews is being judged by an objective standard? No evidence of objectivity is being presented, only ad hominem, which is the tool of last resort for people who are losing an argument.
