DO Muslims and Christians worship the same God?

The Quran states that Muslims, Jews
and Christians worship the same God (Sura 29:46).

However, Islamic tradition teaches that
only Muslims will be admitted to Paradise. Though
they are considered "People of the Book" - a reference
to Jewish and Christian scriptures -
Jews and Christians are excluded.

Muslims claim - without providing irrefutable proof -
that Christians and Jews have corrupted the Scriptures,
and teach that everyone must instead accept
the teachings of the Quran.

When compared with the Jewish and Christian
scriptures, the teachings of Quran show that
Allah is not the same God worshipped by Jews
and Christians.



God — The Koran asserts that the god of Islam is
the God of Christians and Jews (Sura 29:46).
Nothing could be farther from the truth.7

The god of Islam, Allah, is most definitely not
the God of the Bible. Allah is presented in the Koran
as an autocratic ruler who is aloof and arbitrary
(Sura 5:40). Allah is unknowable whereas

the God of the Bible is knowable (2 Timothy 1:12).

Allah is impersonal, unlike the personal God
the Scriptures reveal (1 Peter 5:6-7).
Allah is unitarian (Sura 4:48) whereas
the God of the Bible is trinitarian
(2 Corinthians 13:14).
Here is what the Koran says about
the God of the Bible (Sura 4:171):
“Believe in Allah and say not ‘Trinity.’ Cease!
It is better for you! Allah is only One God.
Far is it removed from his transcendent majesty
that he should have a son.”

Allah is capricious (Sura 2:284), whereas

the true God is trustworthy.

And Allah is never anywhere presented as
a god of love —
which is the essence of the nature of the true God
(1 John 4:7-16).

Jesus — The Koran denies point blank that Jesus
was the Son of God (Sura 112:2-3). It also denies
His atoning sacrifice by claiming that he never died
(Sura 4:157). A substitute died for Him on the Cross.
Jesus was translated to Heaven, like Enoch, where
He will remain until He returns to kill all pigs,
destroy all crosses, and convert the world to Islam.
Jesus will marry, reign for 40 years and then die and
be buried next to Muhammad in Medina.8 Jesus
is characterized in the Koran as nothing more
than “an apostle of Allah” (Sura 4:171).

In November, 2003, evangelical Christian
leaders took George Bush -
who indentifies himself as a Christian -
to task for his assertion that
"Muslims worship the same Almighty" that he does:

At a news conference with Prime Minister Tony Blair
in England on Thursday, a reporter noted
that Bush has often said that freedom is a gift
from "the Almighty" but questioned whether Bush believes that "Muslims worship the same Almighty" that he does.

"I do say that freedom is the Almighty's gift
to every person," the president replied.
"I also condition it by saying freedom is not
America's gift to the world.
It's much greater than that, of course.
And I believe we worship the same god."

Bush's remarks sent immediate shock waves
through Christian Web sites and radio broadcasts.
A Baptist Press report quoted Richard D. Land,
president of the public policy arm
of the Southern Baptist Convention,
the nation's largest Protestant denomination,
as saying that Bush "is simply mistaken."

"We should always remember that he is
commander in chief, not theologian in chief,"
Land said in a telephone interview yesterday.
"The Bible is clear on this:
The one and true god is Jehovah,
and his only begotten son is Jesus Christ."

The Rev. Ted Haggard, president of
the National Association of Evangelicals,
also issued a statement contradicting Bush.

"The Christian God encourages freedom,
love, forgiveness, prosperity and health.
The Muslim god appears to value the opposite.
The personalities of each god are evident
in the cultures, civilizations and dispositions
of the peoples that serve them.
Muhammad's central message was submission;
Jesus' central message was love.
They seem to be very different personalities,"
Haggard said.

This whole nonsense that Christians and Muslims worship the same God is such total nonsense I would have a hard time believing that statement even if I was a atheist.


If these two religions are so closely the same then Christians should go into a Muslim church and see little or no difference and Muslims should go into a Christian church and see little or no difference.Yet we all know they are worlds apart and not compatible at all.

With out even doing any research I can think of many differences.

Muslims have to pray a minimum amount of times a day,in a certain direction and on their hands and knees....Christians do not have any of these rules.

Islam requires every Muslim to make a trek to Mecca at least once in his or her life....Christians have no such rule.

Islam teaches that men are superior to women in every way...Christianity treats men and women equal.

Islam rewards suicide attacks and death of non believers with 72 virgins in heaven...Not only does Christianity not command death to unbelievers,suicide is strictly forbidden.Men are not rewarded with one virgin in heaven let alone 72 and sexual intercourse is never mentioned in the bible.

A Koran must never be put on the ground or handled by "The infedels".The Holy bible has no rules where it should be set down or handled by others.

You can leave Christianity for any religion at any time with no punishment from the church or other Christians.Leaving Islam for another religion is punishable by death.

Christians and other people from other religions are forbidden to enter cites like Mecca and their churches.All are welcome to Christian churches.


Islam is intolerant towards other religions,wants them destroyed or converted,and believes they do not have the right to exist.Christianity ignores other religions and allows them the free will to do what they want.Christianity is tolerant towards all religions.

A woman is not even allowed to speak in Church. Hell if a woman is raped, all the man has to do is pay money and he can marry her regardless of her desires. Women, in the bible are anything but equal to men. Hell if you want I could search up a lot more than this.

this is more of that 'taking small parts of a big book' tactic which totally presents things out of context and another example of how both sides do it,,,

imagine being alive, living a full life, wondering your whole life what comes after death. Seeing people u love go to sleep and not wake up,people are bad,they don't care about anything there is crime there is not anything worth living for.Someone begins to speak up, starts telling stories about higher powers or God saying this is how he wants you to live. So the person talking thinks about what would be the ideal way to make the world a better place. He creates religion, people begin to listen due to natural unexplained events cities are destroyed from floods and earthquakes the man says it's his god's wrath on the people for their sin. The people out of fear believe him and begin trying to talk to or 'pray' to the higher power the man created. Soon what people see in their lives as far events that they cannot explain start leaving stories of the natural disasters taking place to their children. but because that they have never seen it before or know how it happened they try to cope with it by believing it's their god. Word spreads around and so does the faith. this is how religion began or at least how my theory sees it i'd appreciate any feed back on my theory =D

It's not a new hypothesis and it ignores a great deal of evidence. For instance: It wasn't an accepted belief among Jews during Jesus' time (and possibly still) that there was life after death. To the ancient Hebrews, God created life and then life died and stayed dead. I'm no ancient religion expert, but that does put a crimp in your hypothesis.
