It has been said many times already, but it is worth repeating: the Tea Party is not some new phenomenon in American politics. The vast majority of people who identify with the Tea Party also cleave to fundamentalist evangelical Christianity, are against legal abortion, against gay marriage, and think government is too big. In short, they are the base of the GOP, the same base they were two years ago, and the same base they will be two years from now. The Tea Party is a confection created by big-money GOP donors and the "mainstream" news media, and they get coverage for the same reasons car accidents and police chases get coverage.

Speaking of the Tea Party, let's talk about these guys and racism. Their leaders and candidates go out of their way to say there is no racism in the "movement," but someone forgot to tell the Tea Party guy who has been selling "Yup, I'm a racist" t-shirts at their rallies. Oh, yeah, and someone also forgot to tell Rush Limbaugh:

This is a tough thing to say, because a lot of people don't want to hear this, because it goes against everybody's desire that we all be the same, that there be no pain in life and that there be no suffering and that everybody do well and that everybody have what they want and so forth.

But there is no equality. You cannot guarantee that any two people will end up the same. And you can't legislate it, and you can't make it happen. You can try, under the guise of fairness and so forth, but some people are self-starters, and some people are born lazy. Some people are born victims. Some people are just born to be slaves. Some people are born to put up with somebody else making every decision for them.

Yeah, that's not racist. At all.

your right, the Tea Party movement is not a phenom. It is perhaps the most Amercan thing to happen to politics in our lifetime. I have been to several rallies, and have witnessed nothing other than concerned citizens who are afraid of the direction our country has been taking. As an ex soldier, who took an oath to defend the Constitution, I feel good about the effort by regular patriotic Americans to do the same. God bless America!!!

I first want thank you for not using the terms Tea Bagger or Tea Baggin in this thread.

But I must say this article is bunk. A lot of the leadership of the Tea Party movement are African American and Hispanic.

I disagree. There is nothing patriotic about the fearmongering of the tea partiers. They are using the same tired rhetoric of the Republican party. The direction of our country was set before Obama.

Dragoness, do you have any other issues that you'd like to discuss besides your usual charges of racism against everyone or everything you dont like??

Sure. All Tea Partiers believe just exactly what you want them to believe. Not what they actually believe.

Read the platform. That is what they believe on average...
You don't have to define them. They have already defined themselves.
Go and learn about it.

start with the Wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_Party_movement

"The Tea Party movement is a political movement in the United States that emerged in 2009 through a series of locally and nationally coordinated protests.[1][2][3] The protests were partially in response to several Federal laws: the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008,[4] the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009,[5][6] and a series of health care reform bills.[7]

The name "Tea Party" is a reference to the Boston Tea Party, a 1773 incident that was part of a movement throughout British America against the Tea Act, which had been passed by the British Parliament in 1773. Colonists objected to the Tea Act for a variety of reasons, especially because they believed that it violated their right to be taxed only by their own elected representatives. Tea Party protests have invoked themes, images, and slogans similar to those used during the pre-revolutionary period in American history.[8][9][10]

The movement has no central leadership but is a loose affiliation of smaller local groups.[11] The movement's primary concerns include, but are not limited to, cutting back the size of government,[12] lowering taxes,[13] reducing wasteful spending,[13] reducing the national debt and federal budget deficit,[12] and adhering to the United States Constitution.[14] Many of the movement's members also speak out on a wide variety of other issues such as illegal immigration.[15]"

The T-bagging Party is a corporate sponsored ragtag group. They were invented by Big Insurance initially to fight HC. Of course they attract only the most ignorant as a base. It's an easy target in bading low life haters to join since they needed a title and an organization to latch onto. The Bagger's leaders spent tons on buses and even hired a few blacks for photo ops to lamely hide their racist agendas at their rallies...but again that only worked for the
most easily fooled among us.

I think the funniest thing was when they held a "Tea Party" rally in....ENGLAND!...LOLOLOLOL. Still laughing at these people that call themselves T-baggers. They obviously don't get irony one bit.

the million dollar questions are why NOW and why Blame Obama and what made it become TOO MUCH,,?

government programs, and government spending have been going on for quite a while

so why did it become so urgent NOW? and why the clamoring to tie all these LONG LIVEED issues directly to OBama personally?

also...
when did the government tell us what we HAVE to eat or drink?
when did the government tell us what car we HAVE to drive?
when did they tell us what toilet we can use?
when did the they tell us what light bulb to use?

its kind of a political version of a bully, to me
the kid on the playground who comes and punches you in the face everyday until you start organizing a group to beat his behind and then he starts reaming about how the violence has to stop...lol

where were these same people when welfare, medicare, medicaid, tax funded war were in their hayday and their inception and before the MASSES started to actually benefit from them?

why are so many screaming SMALLER government but still riding scooters and recieving medicare? how are THEY going to decide who should suffer the cutbacks and I wonder who they are going to decide that should be (Hint: NOT THEM),,,,

just sounds to me like its 'fine to give it to us but not to all of them'

as for my list ...I'll let you do the research...as for why now...the government / Liberals usually get there agenda through slowly...over a period of years and years...and before you know it...more and more of our freedoms have been taken away...Obama...just tried too much...too fast...too soon...that's why he's going to get whooped...Nov 2nd...here...maybe this will help...

You know government has nothing to do when they get around to passing laws outlawing light bulbs! Oh, they’ve passed all the big, super important laws like prohibiting online gambling, tearing tags off of mattresses and how much water toilets are allowed to use per flush! Speaking of which, did the geniuses in DC ever consider MFS (multiple flushing syndrome) that takes place in the AWD bathroom precisely 47 minutes after AWD has him a heaping plate of the El Dorado Jack Fajitas at the Jalapeno Tree (the best fajitas evah!)? I can personally testify this does not save water!

AWD is proud to say his Congressman Michael Burgess is fighting back to keep our regular, dependable incandescent bulbs from the hands of those environmental wackjobs who would rather see us living in caves using candles for light. No, actually they’d rather see us dead.

Burgess said:

Thousands of American jobs have been shipped overseas as a direct consequence of this light bulb provision in the Democrats’ 2007 energy bill. Further, I have stated all along that exposing our citizens to the harmful effects of the mercury contained in CFL light bulbs, which are being manufactured in China, is likely to pose a hazard for years to come.

Great! So the Dims have made it to where I have to have a Haz-Mat team come in to change my light bulbs! And it’s not like we can trust the Chinese to make safe mercury CFL bulbs! With their track record, the light bulbs will come in white lead paint!

Congressman Joe Barton added:

The unanticipated consequence of the ’07 act – Washington-mandated layoffs in the middle of a desperate recession – is one of many examples of what happens when politicians and activists think they know better than consumers and workers, From the health insurance you’re allowed to have, to the car you can drive, to the light bulbs you can buy, Washington is making too many decisions that are better left to people who work for their own paychecks and earn their own living.

Exactly! Let me live my life! Let me ride in a car without a seat belt. Let me eat salt and saturated fats. Let me smoke if I choose. Let me turn on the lights without getting mercury poisoning. And for heaven’s sake, let me take a dump in peace and not have to waste 10 minutes waiting to flush the toilet 6 times after my El Dorado Jack Fajitas at the Jalapeno Tree!

I read this week where our non-Stimulus plan spent $800,000 to create a program to teach African men how to wash their units after sex. Just to be up front here, they originally planned to do the program based on AWD but $800,000 wasn’t enough money (if you know what I mean!). The bigger the headache, the bigger the pill bay-bah! But the point here is some pinhead Congressman was sitting around thinking “hmmmm…what else can we do to waste taxpayer money? Hey, I’ve got it! You’re going to love this! Let’s give Africa $800,000 to teach their men to wash their old fellas after doing the nasty! Oh, Pelosi’s going to love this one!” The morons in Washington are so far removed from reality they’d pay a million dollars to watch a goat piss! Why should they care? It’s not THEIR money!

Big government spawns bigger government. It never works the other way around. Stupid, power-hungry politicians spawn more stupid, power-hungry politicians. One flush turns to six! It should be perfectly clear to all that government is the enemy! And to think our Founding Fathers started a revolution over taxes on tea! Good thing they didn’t use that tea to wash down some El Dorado Jack fajitas!

Hey Washington, keep your hands off my Edison designed light bulbs, give me back my super flusher toilet and quit trying to ruin my life!

I had plenty of choice when I Was last at the grocery store and I buy whichever car I can afford,,,etc

there may be government STANDARDS but thats a far cry from dictating what people can eat, drink, and drive,,,,its about maintaining public safety

and what freedom was taken away by OBama, besided the Healthcare reform,,,?

is he truly a tea party favorite to bash because he has been so BUSY trying to accomplish the things that politicians have been trying to accomplish for decades?

I think the point is he is doing things politicians want and not what people want. I am sorry but just some of us don't want a government that says "I know what's best for you".
