Though it is human nature to evaluate people we encounter either online or other settings based on first impressions, the conclusions we come to are frequently incomplete.

Let's take for example, disabilities which can be found in all areas; physical, emotional, mental, health, financial and spiritual, and most of us experience one or the other sometime in our lives, and at times for the rest of our lives. However when we meet someone at the heart of our negative tendencies we choose to judge, categorize and criticize, setting ourselves apart.

Why are people so quick to pass judgment when seldom do they know what roads people have traveled?

Obviously, because they can, and because it's natural to do so. It takes work to WITHHOLD one's natural tendency to judge people, and to decide to put in that work, a person has to go through experiences that convince them that it's worth it.
This is why many very LUCKY people (those born with wealth, comfort, great good looks, etc), often NEVER learn not to be judgmental. Since their lives move smoothly along while they discard some, and promote others, based on their "judgments," they have no REASON to do otherwise.

I agree that it's a natural tendency, but we can naturally curb that and become more open-minded regardless the status one's hold, and yes perhaps this action seems more aggressive among people of status..

IDK - ignorance maybe? But when you find those rare individuals of character and understanding who withhold judgements, or color their judgements with experience knwledge & understanding, when u find those kinds - cherish them

I think first impressions have alot to do with it. I know if someone is rude or acts like an ***, I automatically label them as such. I wish I wasn't like that, but I'm human. I have met a few people who aren't judgemental and I wish I could be that way.

I think we evaluate, because the most delicious fodder for the idle mind are the irrelevancies in other people’s lives. The errors other people make; these are what gives us the most vicarious of pleasures. Growing wise, at the cost of living life secondhand; with the collateral damage limited to any life other than our own, and safely made smarter by error diluted by someone else making it to our gain. We judge, categorize and criticize, because finally we realize we’re just looking at mirrors when we grab at life with other’s people hands. The qualities we learn to despise, are no less than our own. The virtues we praise, are ones we find so hard to reach. But then, that's just me.

There are a lot of people out there,
and only one of me.
You learn to discern.

I think it has to deal with on how you were raised, the people you grew up with and sometimes the area you lived in. Society can conform a person if that person choose to let it. Other words, everyone is a teacher and a student. It just depends on who your teachers might be growing up.

not everyone is compatible , either in friendship or business or romance,

judgment(or as I prefer, evaluation) is a way to quickly assess the likelihood of compatibility with another human

it matters not WHY someone is a drunk as far as whether I will choose to hang around them, the WHY only matters in how I See them as a person

plenty of cool people out there that I would still just assume not associate with,,,

Yes, but we must get pass our mirrors so that we may reach an enlightened mind, it is then we learn to evaluate by facts.

I "judge" based on the facts and the evidence presented. I leave emotion out of it.

People's judgement of us, shapes and moulds us.We either respond and defend our actions or move along and dis-regard what they had said...

They are basically challenging our social values, traditions, perceptions and thoughts and ...Why not?

I think its situational and it depends on whom/who has judged.

I will 'raise' my thoughts and speak if something said does
not sit well with me.
