Many of us eat similar foods on Thanksgiving but I am wondering what your family favorites are. We do mashed rutabaga, creamed onions and my own superb stuffing (outside the bird) as foods not everyone does. (well lots of people do stuffing but NOT mine! LOL) So what does your family do to put a twist on the traditional meal?

What time do you eat your feast? We eat between 4-5, not early like many families do.

This year I will be at work, hope I get some leftovers for THE sandwich the next day, that's really my favorite part of the whole thing! Turkey, stuffing and cranberry jell on hearty white bread with mayo...this from a non carb eater! Gosh I am getting hungry!

We usually snack and nosh on Christmas then have home made beef veggie soup or the like, makes it easy for people coming over who have had their big meal elsewhere. (at the in-laws etc etc) A few hours after a big meal most folks can fit in a bowl of soup and great bread with lots of butter on it.

Gosh am I ever hungry!! Maybe another glass of wine will fill the hole! drinker

we eat the same meal that has been in my family for more than 100 years, and I think my ex has adopted it too, and also friends we've shared w/ over the years. It's pretty traditional, but every year we add 1 new thing - this year I'd like my son's fiance from Thailand to bring a Thai dish

Anyway - turkey, sage, celery & onion stuffing (I used to make it from my own bread that I baked- my kids never had bread from a store till they started school) w/ cornbread mixed in, gravy from the bird, baked potatoes, candied yams, homemade biscuits, green beans-steamed, cranberry sauce made from whole cranberries, pumpkin & apples pies, vanilla ice cream & whipped cream

homemade pickles during the years that I made them

one year we threw a pizza in there too for the heck of it

OMG try the Cajun seasoning that you shoot into the turkey. My son did it that way a few years ago when we deep fried the turkey it was awesome gave the meat a great taste...
