I am glad to see my thread survived. These men and women sacrifice a lot just to keep us free. I used to say I was a "former Marine". No dice. I will always be a Marine along with the rest of my brothers and sisters who are serving. Thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for your service and to all of my brother veterans, thank you also for your service as well. You were trailblazers for these young kids who are serving now. |

I cant believe the staggering amount of veterns that are homeless???WTF?? I would think after fighting for us they would be treated like royalty. We have the same problem here which is why we work hand in hand with the Veteran's affair and the Veteran's food bank. My Valentine's gift was to drop off a load of food for our hungry vets. They deserve better than to be homeless and hungry. JMO In San Diego, the homeless veteran population is reaching epidemic proportions. I think some of them make this choice because they feel they are not getting the help they so desperately need. These people fought and lost close friends and dealt with so much. They should be getting better than what they are receiving. I too, think they should be treated as royalty. It is truly sad that our veterans have this on their plates. Something really needs to be done!!!!!! JMO |

Distressed to see the number of Scammers on this site pretending to be Veterans. Hope the existing legitimate Veteran's will scan profiles and "out" some of these creeps.

Distressed to see the number of Scammers on this site pretending to be Veterans. Hope the existing legitimate Veteran's will scan profiles and "out" some of these creeps. I never knew about the scammers pretending to be veterans. Just the latest in a way that scammers soil the clean waters of living and trying to collect money and ruin lives. I wish there was a way we could knock these creeps off our site and out of our lives!!! Sad truly sad!!! |

Here is a thank you letter to our Vets written by one of my 11 year old cadets. I am so proud of him. I can't put his name here but I can post the letter.
Dear Veterans of Canada I would like to thank you for serving our country, and giving us rights and freedoms, and the little things that make us and Canada what it is today. We really appreciate your hard work, and what you do for us. It must be really hard being away from your family for such a long time. Every Remembrance day , we give thanks for all the men and women who have died for us, to give us great things. We won’t ever forget you, and I hope you don’t forget us. Wherever you are, it must be dangerous. When you lose a veteran, we remember each and every one who has passed. If whoever is reading letter pass on, we will never forget you either. From Able cadet ______ PS. Stay safe and Good luck. |

I think at least in general that whenever we can as individuals we should give thanks to the service men and service women that made the choice to serve on more than just a handful of days. Whether or not as individuals we agree with war and the politics that often get involved, I think it's important that we take the time to remind these individuals that we appreciate their choice to serve for those of us that either are not in a position to do so or chose not to serve. The choice to serve or not isn't right or wrong (not all of us our fighters) but we need our fighters to protect the healers and doctors and teachers and farmers and more that work together to support each other. It was good to see this past weekend so many people that showed up to volunteer where I was as well to organize letters of thanks to service men and service women in all different lines of work. I think it's hard when those in active and non-active service don't hear that "thank you" for being a part of this community to do what you do and do what I cannot. I know I'm probably rambling at this point, but I'm not sure how to convey the words...I don't think anything in words can exactly capture the same expression of joy and excitement that a long-time friend and pet dog gets when reunited with their person. If I could bottle that up and send it to those that served I would - I just wish there were better words than "thank you" that could actually convey that same connected feeling and appreciation.

A HUGE THANK YOU to our veteran's and current military. You are all so appreciated.
It breaks my heart the "fakes" I've run into on here pretending to be current military. Shame on you!!! :( I guess they pretend because they think it will get them somewhere. My father was a Korean War vet. He was so proud to have been a part of our military and I continue to honor his memory by making sure I thank every vet or military personnel I meet. I cannot thank any of you enough for the sacrifices you have made. You are all heroes!!! God bless you all!! Bren |

I am not an American I am filipino but I support the troops and I salute the men and women who serve to defend their country and the world. My brother in law is a retired US Army. He have gone to Somalia, Panama and Iraq and I'm so proud of him. My country Philippines would never be a free country today and would never got free from the Japanese during WW2 if it was not because of the famous war hero Gen. Douglas MacArthur with his troops who fulfilled his promise........"I shall return".
To the men and women who risk their lives defending their country and the world..........Thank you and I salute you.......God bless America!!! |
