When others brag, does it impress you?

Do you brag to impress others? Do you think it works?

Hummmmm guess it depends if it is bragging or if one is just proud of accomplishment they have made, or something that has happen to them that was good.

If it is that then I'm happy for them.bigsmile

But.......now if they are bragging to a point just to rub it in and acting as if they are better then others then yeah that does get to me.

As far as doing it to impress others that is something I don't do and feel it does not work it just annoys others.slaphead

Nope.

It seems to impress other people who are receptive to the exhibition of other people's self-importance.

When do you think it's bragging and when do you think it's being proud of accomplishments?

I can't stand to hear some azzhole bragging and I usually don't believe anything they say..

There's a time and a place for everything. In a job interview, you brag. If you meet somebody at a party, you don't brag. If you are running for office, you brag. If you are writing a profile for a dating site, you try to find a way to brag without seeming to. It's a very tricky thing. Many folks don't understand when and where. I'm not clear on it.

I don't know.. I would think in a job interview, you wouldn't want to sound like you're bragging, as arrogance isn't going to sound good. And on profiles here, I tend to skip those who brag.

I hate it...
I am happy for someone to humbly tell me about what they do, or their achievements.
But I surely dont want them telling me how wonderful and how much they love themselves..

Honestly I would rather someone just laugh about what a pain in the butt they are, THAT I am comfortable with..

I dont know any normal people who brag about themselvesnoway

hmm well normal from where I live, we dont brag, its just gross

I brag.
I brag alot.

But, I can back it up....so I view it as an expression of confidence. If I have accomplished something that I am proud of...I let it be known.

I got plenty of faults but, I ain't about to make them the topic of my conversations.

Other people want to play themselves down...great! That is their business.

Bragging aint the same as just being full of s**t though. People who run thier yap holes about how great they are without actually having done anything are a friggen joke.

There's sometimes a fine line between bragging and just making conversation. A guy may like to brag about how many women he's had, for example. To many, it sounds like a guy with a big ego. Lol.

All bragging is, is a ego booster. The only thing anyone gets out of it is the person bragging. I don't pay any attention to people like this. If one needs to brag a lot, It tells me they're not really happy about themselves....

sometimes I like to listen to someone who I am close to brag a little. We should all get the chance sometimes.

I think in a man it does sound confident as long as it isn't overdone or interfering with untimacy

that's a good point

that kind of bragging is a HUGE turn off

so discernment remains an art:wink:

it's another thing if the subject of experience with relationships comes up and you have a couple of examples - I would not consider that bragging

People who know me brag about how good an artist I am but I know that I could be much better so I don't brag. I say "I'm pretty good." I want to be better and paint more. But sometimes I have a hard time getting started painting because when I'm painting the whole world sort of fades away and I don't get anything done that I need to do. I get lost in my painting and the house goes to hell, I forget to eat... etc.

I don't beleive in bragging, and when others brag, it does the opposite.
