Cant help but hear something about it every day. Personaly I cant understand in this day and age why we still have kings and Queens in the world.

In this age of austerity how long will the Brits continue to support this liveing wax museum?

Its the only thing Britain has that makes them special anymore, and the only thing left from the glory days. Plus all Brits love any excuse to throw a party.

The Brits still make their decisions through Parliment. But on the note of how other countries run thier affairs, Americans wonder why there is still Communism, yada yada yada. The fact remains Democracy in the grand scheme of things is still a young political view in practice. Not to mention, the USA may tout itself as a democratic country, but really it is not "truly" democratic. i.e. Bush winning his second term while falling short on the popular vote.

Politics comes to one very simple idea... what works best for the country that lives by it.

What does it matter what others do in other countries?

Everything has to be like here to placate people like you?

People like Homogeneity way too much here. It is thinking like this that drags us into so many wars.

We need to keep our noses more on our side of the border as long as they are not screwing with us.

From what I've heard, the Royals are just for show.

They don't make Gov. policy.

And, as for the wedding, BHO and the Material Girl ain't welcome.laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh drinker

Actually they do govern, when necessary...

the Governor general...the Queen's envoy can report back to the Queen when we self governing members, (countries) of the Commonwealth have messed up so badly....and the Governor general acting on the Queen's behalf can sack them.

It's been done before...and could happen again.

I find it fascinating that a person from a country whose reverred 'royals' are nothing more than inflated egos in either a semblence of art or politics would have a comment to make anyways.

Our Royals have no impact on you, so why even give a sh *te?

Personally I don't see them as anything more than a lovely reminiscence of days of old...and am happy to see William and Kate take over the throne when Lizzy finally carks it.

Maybe but I doubt it..

But really I dont think our country is going to bad, even with us being under the commonwealth.
Our dollar is the highest it has ever been, our countries economy is not to bad, We have jobs for people who want them, and if our government messes up there is someone who can step in if needed.

So all in all we are pretty well off.

Well I feel blessed to be here, It is a great country that pulls together , we are proud of who we are

Chances of Charles ruling is small....and although you can research till the cows come home....we would have a clearer idea of the general concensus of who we want for KIng...than you would...considering the Royals are ours not yours.

We know Charles is next in line...and have known that all our lives...the order of succession...

doesn't mean he WILL be King...

if he didn't abdicate...he's probably be assasinated.noway

nothing to get excited about, i was just saying everyone else is saying... for some reason, they keep yacking about it on the news over here.. but your right , i could care less who is king, queen, emperor or whatever... we kicked them out over 200 years ago, and I'm glad we did... those people don't care what me, you, or anyone else thinks or says, they are going to do whatever they want, regardless...

I personally could care less but know a number of people who care a great deal. To each, his or her own and that's okay :)
