Topic: Why do people assume there is only one God?

The Creator must be of a different nature from the things created because if he is of the same nature as they are, he will be temporal and will therefore need a maker. It follows that nothing is like Him. If the maker is not temporal, then he must be eternal. But if he is eternal, he cannot be caused, and if nothing outside him causes him to continue to exist, which means that he must be self-sufficient. And if the does not depend on anything for the continuance of his own existence, then this existence can have no end. The Creator is therefore eternal and everlasting: "He is the First and the Last."

God is more loving and kinder than a mother to her dear child.

God is more loving yet allows people to burn for all eternity without any letting up? Sorry that doesn't work.

Yup, it doesn't work. Nor did those reading lessons... Nor the reading glasses...

Show me where it says God will allow people to "burn for all eternity..."...

I bet you can't and you'll just spew some fluff to deflect from that claim.

sorry brother, why u didn t complete my sentences?????
But God is also Just. Hence evildoers and sinners must have their share of punishment and the virtuous, His bounties and favors. Actually God's attribute of Mercy has full manifestation in His attribute of Justice. People suffering throughout their lives for His sake and people oppressing and exploiting other people all their lives should not receive similar treatment from their Lord. Expecting similar treatment for them will amount to negating the very belief in the accountability of man in the Hereafter and thereby negating all the incentives for a moral and virtuous life in this world.

my poker god is smiling on me right now, cause i'm winning, but some of the other gods are MIA at the moment... the cat litter god is busy somewhere else, cause it stinks, and my plant god let some of my plants die... the god of work seems to be showing me some favor, cause it is fruitful at the moment, and the sun god is beaming great... the god of rain is losing his/her battle with the sun god, and that is pissing the plant god off...

Because the rest didn't apply to what I said, and either way I think it's bunk.

Fantasies are so fun, yes? It would be nice to have a balance. It would be nice to know that Justice is coming one day. One day all the $#it you've been through will pay off. It would be nice to be able to sit back and think "well, they'll get what's coming to them once they die ... oh, yes, they'll get it in the end."

And that's what keeps the masses passive ... no need to act against the world's injustices when your imaginary friend's gonna do it for you later. Just gotta sit back and wait ... patience is a virtue, after all ...

The evil stems from you pushing your beliefs onto everyone else with threats of "God's judgment" if you don't believe. That's where the evil is. If you're happy with what you believe, fine. But just because others may disagree doesn't give you the right to keep pushing onto them that they will die and burn or whatever else because of what they do or what they believe. That's what's evil.

Same goes with the end of the world, it gives people an excuse to do nothing. Oh the world is gonna end anyway, Jesus is gonna comeback, we can't stop it, etc etc. It's just a way to keep people from fighting the chains on us.

and I regret that is your experience, but I can guarantee I have never 'imposed' upon anyone and NEVER told anyone they would die or burn, nor have the majority of christians I know

Gods judgment isnt a threat if one doesnt believe it, anymore than santa claus having a naughty list

,,it doesnt mean it wont be true,, but ignorance is bliss and if you dont know or believe something is to be feared you wont fear it

,,,,we wont know till we get there if we were correct or incorrect to have our beliefs and feelings,, but there is nothing evil in believing in some version of action and consequence,,,,

Yes but when you start to push those ideas onto others I have a problem, and even if you don't impose, a lot do.

And the God's judgment and Santa Clause thing doesn't work, because according to you it's true anyway, so yes it's a threat. It would have to be false for not to be. Thankfully that is the case as I have realized. I have no fear of death or an afterlife anymore, no need to.

Yes and no, because while they can be used to scare the populace....they also expose the facts for those that are paying attention. The facts that people need to know but are clueless of.

According to Holy Scripture and Jesus himself there is only ONE God. And according to all logic if there were two gods, then one god would be a limit on the other. Neither could be infinite and neither would be the true God. The experience of Israel is clear on this point: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord” (Deuteronomy 6:4)

Not at all. I have come to understand there is truth in every religion. For example, the Bible teaches God is love. That is absolutely 100 percent true. But it's the other things taught within it that are lies. The same goes for every belief system, all have some truth, but none have all of it or have it all right.

Yes there is only one God, and it's because of that logically speaking the energy isn't gonna go to any other God, because there isn't any others for it to go to. So whether you pray to Buddha, Allah or hell even the sun, there's only one creator that that energy can go to if there's one God.
