Hell YES! I get thee whole weeks to do NOTHING but mess around and travel. Now I am planning on helping my mom move from Oregon if she isn't done packing to leave. SO After that is done I am doing a Rock Hounding expedition starting in Lassen Park and working my way down to some rock hounding grounds that are new to me and some that are not. What sucks is I am not all that familiar with Oregon's rock hounding and my mom is leaving the Portland area. So I have to cross the whole state. 55MPH sucks!

All I can say is Three whole weeks of no responsibilities. What am I going to do with myself all that time???

pitchfork So much trouble to get into!pitchfork

Now part of my trip is in gold country. I never count on finding anything but hey, if I get lucky! BONUS!

So to all of you toiling away at your jobs, I feel for you. I really do. (Maybe) This is my first REAL vacation in I can't even freaking remember!

YAHOOOOOOO! TIME OFF FINALLY!

And boy, two locations I am camping in already look Promising. I got the Lassen Park part of the trip planned. I am also looking at hunting in an area called Hallelujah Junction (north of it) near the Nevada boarder. There is no campground there and it is in the middle of some REALLY pissed off desert! But the ground less traveled is the ground most productive!

I have to gt to the 398 from Portland but it takes me right through the middle of Oregon diagonally! ROAD TRIP! I just have to be extra alert for frikken deer. I don't have a cow catcher on the front of my truck and wished I had one for this trip!

I just need to plan the rest of my trip which will probably be three more stops. At least the Lassen Camp ground does have a bathroom and water but I am tanking in my water. 2 1/2 gallons of drinking water. 10 gallons of washing water. Being in the desert takes some planning and an expectation for the nights to get FREAKING COLD even in the summer! The Sierras can be unforgiving. But I hope to find BIG quarts scepters up to ten inches or more in length. In Lassen I am looking for Obsidian Needles. You commonly see them used in Wind Chimes. From there I am planning on going back west and aiming towards Barstow. Calico is a fun place to visit. Geode country! The hollow crystal filled rocks! But I am planning a trip to the Monolluke Hills area MAYBE for rock crystal hunting.

God I love my odd hobbies!

Gotta do something for fun don't we???

It's $4 to rent a camping spot
(pitch a tent)in a State Park in Oregon.
In my town, it is on the lake.
You will have a grand time :-)

Three weeks..aw, man. You know how hard it is to go back to work after a 3-day weekend?

No, wait..forget I said "work".

This is not about work or 3-day weekends. This is about 3 WEEKS! of vacation awesomeness.

We want pictures! Have a great time. Watch out for bears. Take plenty of undies. Are you allergic to ivy? If you meet any naughty women don't give them your home address. Don't forget the off. Water water water when you get down this way. Keep your cell charged. Don't pick up hitch hikers. If you have to hitch hike pray I didn't send them the same note. Leave bread crumbs. Listen for rattles when turning over rocks. Strike it rich. Don't sit by the red ants. Remember cactus have points. Don't drink your pea unless you absolutely have to. Take a good hat. Bring your magnifying glass. Don't accidentally camp down wind from a sewage plant. Area 51 is for real. Take your portable TV and watch the 3 amigos. Load the tent without the hole. Prevent forest fires. Report dead bodies to the police, their still looking for Hoffa. Take harmonica. Use deer antlers for hood ordainment. Find the lost boys.

That is some list. I am not bringing the tin foil hat though. Here we face poison oak and that barely does anything to me at all. And I got the ultimate bear repellent, a 12 gauge shotgun. Also I pull rocks towards me when I can and probe under he larger ones with a stick first. I respects Buzz Tails. I don't kill them because I hate snakes which I don't. I usually carry a lot of water in on these trips. I am a veteran of desert camping. No Portable TV though. God, cut off from the internet.

The only problem is there isn't a lot of women who are into this one hobby of mine. I guess I am too much the explorer. Now if I do run into aliens, well, I hope they let me drive their UFO for a while!

Oh, and Andy's ultimate weapon against Mosquitoes and ticks, Lemon Oil rubbed on my skin. There is nothing better at keeping them off of me.

I don't intend to go into Nevada. The grounds I am looking for are on the California side.

Besides, I would probably wind up not leaving the Mustang.pitchfork
