This is mainly for the ladies, how do you feel about your significant other having a pet name or names for you, With my last partner, she did not care for this and at times would become angry, do some woman find this demeaning, I remember my father using a lot of pet names for my mother, I was with my ex 7yrs. by the way.

Now in a previous relationship my partner enjoyed the pet names I had for her, just wondering if this is an individual thing.

Depends on how it was used, and when it was used. Generally, I have no problem with it, unless it becomes the guy using it all the time and not my actual name.

I love them. The more individual and original the better.

I don't mind being called baby by someone I care about but not strangers. Get this. When a guy I'm not attracted to stares at me in that disrespectful way for a long time, I want to put my hands around his head and bulge his eye balls out with my thumbs. I don't do it but I want to so badly.surprised

i will neverrrrrrrrrrr understand the use of babe, baby, papi, or mami.
unless you like to think of your significant other as your offspring or parent,
it is disturbing as fuuuuuuck.

It really depends on the name. Boo makes me cringe, though.

You've got a point there, especially regarding papi, or mami. noway I already figured out a few years ago why I like nick names. It's because my parents never used that kind of sweet talk with me, so, being deprived of that type of remark that represents closeness, whenever a guy (I like) calls me babe I melt away.

When someone uses nick names/pet names all the time, I start to wonder if he actually remembers names of women he dates. laugh

I can't speak for everyone...but, I can speak for me...

"Baby" "Honey" "Sweety" "DollBaby" "Sugar" "Lovey" "Ma'am" "Lil Mama" "Sexiliscious"

Those are all perfectly legitimate references to women as far as I am concerned. If they got a problem with it...then they (you birds) are the ones with the problem. Aint my fault when women have forgotten to remember what it is like to be treated right.

I seriously wish everyone would just stand the hell up .

Ma'am always makes me think they're talking to an older woman. So it sounds very strange when someone calls me ma'am.

Jon and I call each other "babe" and we call other people we care about by "hun" and such, but only if the person is okay with it. I have a best friend for the past 20 years aand we call each other "Sweetie" and "Luva"...it's funny when his other gay friends are around and they just look at him when he uses the last one for me. laugh

The use of pet names depend on the individuals.
