Topic: President Obama’s Teleprompters stolen | |
---|---|
Talk about the ultimate joy ride.
A local NBC affiliate in Richmond, Virginia reports that thieves stole a truck carrying hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of equipment that travels with President Obama, including his Teleprompters. Officials recovered the truck on Monday. Here's the NBC 12 breakdown of the caper: When you see President Obama speak, there is a pretty typical setup including the presidential seal on a podium, the see-thru Teleprompter and a portable sound system. Thieves saw the truck carrying that equipment and couldn't resist the target. We're told the truck was parked at the Virginia Center Commons Courtyard Marriott in advance on Wednesday's presidential visit to Chesterfield. Sources said inside that vehicle was about $200,000 worth of sound equipment, several podiums and presidential seals, behind which only the President himself can stand. They told NBC12 around 12:30 Monday afternoon that truck was recovered in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn Express near the airport and hotel staff confirm police activity. |

Good thing they recovered the Teleprompter,or it would have been disaster! |

actually, it just says the truck was recovered...i guess everything was still in it.

Imagine if the bank robber that was told to "rewrite" his demand letter had stolen it. I can see this idiot trying to pawn it! |
|

|
The guy that stole it must have been a Dem and realized that it was Obama's lifeline to the general public.

With his history as editor, and author of two best selling books, I somehow doubt he has to have teleprompters any more than ANY modern president in order to speak to the public.
Not to mention, having seen him twice in person without teleprompter and any number of times in live television interviews, I believe its an incredible stretch to imply that he has any issue with expressing himself intelligently to the public or anyone else. |

And do you not think those questions were scripted? What network is going to risk the chance of even 30 seconds of dead air by the other party not having an answer? The answer is - none. |

And do you not think those questions were scripted? What network is going to risk the chance of even 30 seconds of dead air by the other party not having an answer? The answer is - none. really? cause it seems like dead air from a politician is pretty hot news in and of itself, not to mention professional networks have the type of professional interviewers who know how to 'make up' for dead air and ad lib or move along. Its not that big a deal. As to writing, speaking is hard too. And I have seen him speak without a teleprompter twice. Whatever he isnt, its nonsense to suggest that he is someone who would have issues communicating without a teleprompter. Speeches, of course, where one speaks for up to an hour or more can also be done using PAPER as a reference point (the old fashioned way), which Im sure Obama knows as well. |

It's a good thing Barry didn't have to make a speech.
More uhs, duhs, spits and sputters than normal. Then again, those speeches without the teleprompters are hilarious. Great material for America's Funniest Videos. |

Yeah, outside of actors, most people probably have a hard time coming up of 45 to 2 hours of straight talk , let alone talk that is continuous, intelligent, and relevant.
And writing has the benefit of allowing for editing and proof reading, eliminating the potential for anyone to need uhs and ahs. But nice try. |

He is probably the best educated and best public speaker we have had as president since George Washington. I doubt he needs a teleprompter. Its the people to try to dictate to him what he should say who probably got nervous. For George Bush, it would have been a disaster. |
