Do you stereotype people on dating sites? Do you assume only certain kinds of people would use sites like these?

After being a part of this site for a few years, I can see that all kinds of different people from all over the place use sites like these. However, not everyone sees it that way.

So, I'm curious about the stereotypes people have and why.

Hummmmmmmmm nope for I did not join this site for dating back then it was considered more of dating/social site. I have found out that people join these sites for many different reasons not always for dating....

When I joined this site all you had to do was just say hi. I got real good at saying hi.

I was told by a guy on another dating site that only whores got on dating sites!!!!!! Told me that is why it is called the intwhorenet!!!!! Jerk! I don't think people come in here expecting the family atmosphere...I was pleasantly surprised.

This topic came up because of an... interesting conversation I had earlier with someone (not from this site) about stereotypes. He insisted all men who use these sites were broke, insecure and had small penises. And all women were just fat and unhappy.

A guy told me once that only desperate women are on these sites. He informed me of this after I had said I wasn't interest in meeting, because he couldn't understand me turning down a man since I must be desperate. haha.

Like somehow I am superior because I did not

Id say the internet is used by people from all walks of life, HOWEVER, I would figure the majority of those using dating sites have not had much luck with traditional methods.

Maybe they arent in an area where they get to meet people often, or maybe they dont get out often enough to meet people, of maybe they are just 'increasing' their odds but trying as many venues as possible.

I am member on several sites, but this is the only 'general' site I signed up for. I usually try to find sites that are specific to one characteristic I am attracted to so that the odds increase of finding someone that is attractive to me. That includes sites that cater to christians, or musicians, or black people, or interracial dating,,,etc,,,, its just a way to increase the odds really.

It wasn't even worth it. There are guys out there (and I'm sure women) who don't handle rejection well. They will try to insult the person turning them down, in hopes of making themselves feel better.

Well Im sterotyped on here as being a perv and I dont get it. Im honest and tell potential dates that my last 3 relationships were with Blow up dolls and BAM they are gone!!!(Im sure glad I dont mention the crack lady on the corner every weekend I dated once, or maybe 3 times, I cant remember)Ladies just dont really want to know me on a personal basis, Imagine that!!
