They were not to be eaten, because they were a "dirty" beast. They were not of a clean meat.

Then Peter has a vision of the unclean 3 times. what does Peter say? Why does he not understand the vision?

Technically, a pigs flesh is close to human flesh. In Africa the cannibals called humans "long pig."

As for them being "dirty" this is not a scientific fact. Pigs are clean animals. The reason they like mud is that they can't keep cool by sweating. If you keep them in a cement pen with a pool, they are very clean and bath regularly.

I have also heard that pigs are more intelligent than dogs. If I raised pigs I probably would not have the heart to kill and eat them. They are smart and they form emotional attachments.

Another fact is, if you fall into a pig pen, they might eat you alive, bones and all. That they themselves will eat meat may be why they are considered "dirty."

Is your blood dirty? What about a male's sperm...would it be 'unclean' because of where it is coming out of?
Is it the blood that is 'unclean' or it it because it flows out of our vagina's? Is the baby born also 'unclean' because of where it came from and it is covered in the mothers blood.

Is the blood of battle unclean? When men kill in gods name..is that blood ok? Is god alright with blood from violence but not blood from the bodies of 'his' creations?

Also, any raw meat will have parasites and germs, even worms.

Cooking kills those.

You will find germs, worms, and parasites in most everything.
