I am NOT making an argument about capital punishment, I am making an argument against pre-judging someone just because they are convicted of a violent crime.

One of the first steps to deciding that it is 'okay' to murder someone is to decide they are 'less of a human being'.

In that moment of watching someone kill someone you know, who knows what anybody is capable of doing. I hope that I am never put in that situation but considering the career Im going into it is likely. Then I will have to search myself for the answer. Thats all I can do.

SincereMan,

I'd like to apologize for suggesting you were primarily seeking attention with this thread. JWhit's posts have helped me to realize that you might actually think and believe exactly as you say you do, and may not be posting exaggerated statements just for effect.

Not that you care, but I say this for myself: I'm sorry.

I wasnt going to say anything here but sincereman51 you have stated that someone who kills is a second class citizen . So now you say they should be killed and that you yourslef feel you would be up for the task . So doesnt that make you a second class citizen aswell ??

Desiree,

That is exactly my point. I do not judge anyone for simply having a desire to kill in retribution, and I cannot say for sure what I would do in a situation like that.

All I'm saying is: If you think its okay to kill in retribution, and you know someone is convicted of a violent crime - then its so totally wrong on so many levels to personally judge them for it without knowing the circumstances.

First of all...jwhit47, thank you for calling me a young man. That made me feel good at 35 lol. And thats great that you have your view and it is fine that you seem to think you have me pegged as someone who has no facts BUT, I'm sorry that I will not agree with you.

Brandy, this post started out basically with the idea that these rapists and murderers would be killed in the prison system as they are now but instead of gas, we would save time and money and use a bullet. To me, there is a big difference in killing an innocent person and killing a person who has cause so many so much pain. So take that as you will and feel what you wish.

Mass,
The reason I am a bit upset is that two years ago, my sister was murdered by one of these so called GREAT PEOPLE that you all wish to save. You said that I have the same ideas as people in prison yet here I am not in prison beause I am a better person than the piece of trash that killed her. Same for jwhit47, I'm sure you know your stuff buddy, but it makes no difference to me as I have been in this situation and could care less about the prisoner lol. If he is guilty, he should pay, if not, he should be let go. Thats all that matters to me.

Thats the end of this post.

I think Ive heard enough bull sh*t!!!

If someone were to rape, sodomize, kill your child and then cut up the body parts and feed it to the neighbours.......would you feel the same way???

I think alot of people have no idea what it feels to be in the familie's shoes and have no right to judge others for the way they feel.

I think the prison let Jeffrey Dahlmer off easy by letting him get killed by inmates!!! If it were me, I would have tortured him slowly.....devil

SincereMan,

Your sister was murdered by the person or people who actually murdered your sister. If you hate him/her/them with a passion, if you dream of revenge, if you are disgusted with our legal system for failing to do what you think is right - I can understand all of that.

One place where I think your thoughts take a dangerous turn is when you start directing this anger towards all members of a 'group', like all convicted felons. Its a human thing to do, and again I don't judge you for doing so; I'm guess that you didn't actually mean it the way you said it. If you met someone who was convicted for killing the assholes who murdered his sister, I think you would (rightfully) not judge that person harshly.
