My life is full of extremists. It's almost like I collect them. It ranges from everything from vegans who liberate animals, Linux and open source die hards, NRA friends, conspiracy theory people, and like even a lot of Jewish people I know belong to Chabad which is a more intense group and more regulated, etc.

I love them all. I love people who believe passionately.

I myself have to remind myself not to go running to extremes. It's very tempting and I very much have the propensity to do that. Just take off with a concept.

How many of you think you live in an extreme of some kind or another? Do you enjoy never compromising? Or are their times when you wish you didn't know so much and could just sit in the middle of the road?

I'm an antagonist.

I sit in the middle of the road..
..and throw pebbles at both sides..
Just to see the sparks fly. :D

Life is to short to spend it worrying, and fussing over every little thing that may or may be true.

My grandfather used to tell me..

"Son, I was at Pearl Harbor. I seen Hiroshima with my own eyes. I've been around for a few wars, three of which I served in. I've been lost at sea for several days, and I was even a prisoner for several more. While I may not be remembered for all that I've accomplished, I want you to know, I don't give a d***. I just wanted to be able to sit here on my own porch, be able to see all these stars at night, and look back at my life and say, I lived, I loved, I lost, but in the end I conquered. That's all that should matter to you."

So, that's what I live my life by.

Aside from your own dreams and aspirations, everything else is just superficial and insubstantial.

..but that's just me.

ok, I'll bite.

I guess Im extreme because:

Im a Vegetarian, no critters eaten since 1981
Benefit: My total Blood Cholesterol is 78, the lowest in my Doc's whole practice.

I practice non-violence on the planet.
What does that mean: When its time to punch the man in the nose, punch the dumchit in the nose. Otherwise, all creation deserves my appreciation and gratitude. I use force only when my manhood is insulted; else I like to believe I think like Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.

Im not a thief:
ok, I stole a bar of candy when I was 10. I wanted to hang with the crowd that rode motocross bicycles. Unknown to me, those same kids were into regular theft of the local store. I only spent one day with those kids.
Benefit: Im not a freaking Marxist now. Keep your paws out of my wallet. I don't care about your social engineering dreams.

I tell the truth:
I call a spade a spade, and Im able to learn... Have a logical thought process, and Im there... Quote from some moldy scripture, Im snoring. I will not lie to you... Don't eat seafood unless you know where it comes from. My Doc told me three months ago... Japan is gonna have lots of thyroid cancers in 5 years. Tis OK, since I don't eat critters anyway.

There is no compromising with these ideals:

You diet is your business,
your honesty is your business,
your ability to appreciate and support creation is your business.

And mine is mine.

namaste.

I'm an extremist when it comes to politics, which I actually try to not discuss anymore. It always ends up badly.

I've also been called an extremist for eating only pork and chicken for my meat intake, but refusing to eat red meat, and I will never ever.. eat veal. The thought makes me want to vomit. That's just me though.

I usually do most things in life to some sort of extreme.

As I've stated before, I'm all for anything that makes someone happy. (Unless it's illegal.) I'm not one to judge.

..you don't eat Steak?

I'm assuming that's considered 'red meat'?

Idk, maybe it's how I was raised, but when I hear the term 'red meat' I just immediately associate it with under cooked meat; you know, like rare, medium rare, etc.

So, just clarifying..
Cause I love steak. =X

Passion, in of itself, is neither good nor evil. Like all emotions it is nothing until you apply a form to it.

Everything, then, depends upon the form you applyt to passion.

Now, if you spend your life fighting the effects, you are an ant pissing on a forest fire and your passion, and your piss, will be the ruin of you for it matters not how much passion you have, if you lack discretion.

I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue!

And I will remind you that the lever has been around for thousands of years, and to speak as if you have not been introduced to the truth of it demonstrats a lack of the most fundamental kind of work posssible. John Clark

That is by far..
One of the best analogies I've ever heard.. well read.
That hasn't come from someone 'paid' to write it.

I truly must applaud you.

Well, except there's isn't a good 'applauding' smiley. :/

So smokin or shades or even drinks will just have to do.

If you aren't passionate about something, then it's probably not worth believing in.

Or are their times when you wish you didn't know so much and could just sit in the middle of the road?

They have a word for varmints that don't have enough sense to stay out of the middle of the road...
