I have been a christian, devoted 100% for 20 years. Now I cant stand 99% of Christians. The religiousness and pretentiousness and deceit repels me. I refuse to have my child and myself near them. Yet I adore God? Anyone been there? Or am i the only one?

Peace to you, Ladywind7!

I have at times felt that way.

I wouldn't quite put it in those words.

Yet, it can be frustrating for ourselves...
that while we live "the Christian life" we look for Christ in others and have not truly allowed him to rule and reign in our own lives.

The Lord is very attentive to the word we speak... to and about our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Like it or not we are "Sibblings" in the Family of Almighty God.

He has so much to teach each of us... day by day.

The days we think we have Christian knowledge all together (which are only "drops in a bucket"),
He will surely reveal so much more to us.

None of us is 100% devoted to God. But He is 100% devoted to his children, each and everyone of us.

The Gospel is LOVE.

1Pe_1:22, Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love
of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

1Pe_3:8, Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren,
be pitiful, be courteous:

1Jo_3:14, We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren.
He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

(Just a few of many Scripture verses revealing God's will for Christians to abide in love to one another.)

God's Blessings to you!!!

Lovingly,

CeriseRose

I forgive others of their short comings we're not perfect, and it's not our place to judge others.

Im sorry to hear about people having negative experiences with other christians, just as I am sorry to hear when they have negative experiences with other minorities, or other women,,,,etc,,

its a big world, forgiveness and attitude readjustment , as well as relocation and changing where and with whom we spend time,,,,

can often remedy such negative trends,,,,,

You are not alone...I sometimes find myself being ashamed to admit that I am Christians due to the fact how others and myself at times behave. I think we have lost the plot on what being a Christian really is...which is to be Christ-like...to love, forgive and live like Him. We tend to be to religious at times and cage people in. "Don't do this, don't do that" when our biggests sins are hidden within. I sometimes envy the prostitute who stands on the street corner because she has already received her judgement..."For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you." #Mat 7:2

If you judge the prostitute you might aswell have been standing on that street corner yourself...

You may add me as a friend.

I thank you for the request.

There are a lot of worthy friends here in the Mingle2 Christian Forum.
Some have set me straight a time or two.

Most of my life. I found out why, or at least so I believe I have. I grew up going to the Nazarene church. Nazarene a division of the Methodist faith. This division, however strict in their own beliefs, doesn't believe in pushing their faith or beliefs onto another. We will invite you to come worship, sing, and hear the word with us. Should you do something against the faith or belief, that is up to you and the lord jesus how you feel about it.

I hope the holy spirit to take each soul into its fold to be washed into the blood of the lamb so each person can know the magic and mercy of the love of our lord and father.

I, also, think we tend to forget that the belief didn't start with a building, or religion. It started with a belief and a movement. It a beauty each person felt saw and walked. It is caught and felt not learned.

to come into His house.

Parable of the Great Feast

15 Hearing this, a man sitting at the table with Jesus exclaimed,
“What a blessing it will be to attend a banquet in the Kingdom of God!”

16 Jesus replied with this story: “A man prepared a great feast and sent out many invitations.

17 When the banquet was ready, he sent his servant to tell the guests, ‘Come, the banquet is ready.’

18 But they all began making excuses. One said, ‘I have just bought a field and must inspect it. Please excuse me.’

19 Another said, ‘I have just bought five pairs of oxen, and I want to try them out. Please excuse me.’

20 Another said, ‘I now have a wife, so I can’t come.’

21 “The servant returned and told his master what they had said. His master was furious and said,
‘Go quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and invite the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.’

22 After the servant had done this, he reported, ‘There is still room for more.’

23 So his master said, ‘Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and *urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full.

24 For none of those I first invited will get even the smallest taste of my banquet.’”

*[ The King James Version uses the term "compel"
- meaning to coerse, to oblige, constrain,
or to drive to practically force them to come in.]

The invitation is just that urgent.

Nowadays Christians are accused of "pushing their faith on others"
even by other Christians...
who the Lord sent to bid others in the first place.

Christianity is much more than a movement,
politically or socially.

And it is most certainly learned!

"It is written in the prophets,
And they shall be all taught of God.
Every man therefore that hath heard,
and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me."
John 6:45

"But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned
and hast been assured of,
knowing of whom thou hast learned them;"
2Timothy 3:14

Jeremiah 31:33-34
New International Version (NIV)

33 “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel
after that time,” declares the Lord.
“I will put my law in their minds
and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
34 No longer will they teach their neighbor,
or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest,”
declares the Lord.
“For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more.”

Thank you Seakolony!

So glad you are posting!
I hope that all Christians will heed the Father's call
and urgently bid others to His Heavenly Kingdom.

But as was mentioned earlier it didn't start with a building, or religion".

There is a story to be told.
We have to be mindful of WHO we worship
always welcoming His Holy Spirit in our midst.

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
if any man hear my voice, and open the door,
I will come in to him, and will sup with him,
and he with me."
Revelation 3:20

An invite open the door to the faith and enlightenment of our lord jesus christ, but you cannot make anyone accept the holy spirit even if the y are invited......that free will belongs to each individual that must accept the joly spirit into their own heart.......

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 11:25-26 "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?"

And then in Luke 14:21-23

The master of the house had invited Jesus to banquet and as his guests began to turn away from the banquet he then sent his servant to compel others to attend the banquet........but I do not see where as a servant of jesus christ we must compel other to faith nor to come into the house of god....I ask if you wish to come to church or I will be happy to bring your children to the bible school, but I will not condemn you for not taking the invitation but only invite you to come again.......

21 “The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.’

22 “‘Sir,’ the servant said, ‘what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.’

23 “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.

24 I tell you, not one of those who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.’”

Exactly.

It is speaking of those who were invited and rejected the invitation.

Not to simply enter the building or to sing worship songs.

But to commune with the Lord himself.

Amen.
