Just curious, who here plays a musical instrument? Do you play mroe than one? Whats your favorite instrument?

My primary instrument is the "double" french horn. The "double" refers to an octave key which is a fourth key, versus three.

My secondary instrument is the trumpet, or coronet, and I am familiar with several other instrumetns to include the entire brass family (except for trombone) and most of the reed or woodwind section. I am also familiar with soem of the percussion family, and would love the opportunity to learn the harp.

Piano...

Because my mother made us all take some music class....

And I had these grandiose dreams of growing up and being one of those lady jazz singers in a red seguined dress with a v down to her...*points at her naval* and a slit up to her...*points at her hip*....and I'd sing every night for my supper while sitting on top of a shiney black grand piano...

*sighs*

I can't sing. LOL

I love to sing as well, and to take the risk f sounding boastful, I am fairly well at it if left alone to sing in my proper range.
And paint, I personally would love to hear you sing

well daniel your repertoire of instruments you play is rather impressive.

Congrats lulu i know it takes a good flute player to make all states. competition is tough. lots of flute players competing.

my major instrument is the pipe organ. i've played it since i was a little girl. i also play piano and sing. i conduct choirs, as well. had to learn how to play various instruments from all the instrument families but do not consider myself a pro on any of them.

I play all the woodwinds, the guitar and the piano (I have a music performance degree, among other useless pieces of paper cluttering up my walls).

But I really want to learn the accordion, so I can accompany myself when I'm out polka dancing. Unfortunately, the spoons just don't cut it. bigsmile

lol@SheNerd....
That is one of the reasons my knowledge is so extensive, I have always wanted a degree inmusic education and/or performance. I learned all the above mentioned instruments while in highschool, then made the mistake of listening to my recruiter when he told me I would be able to change jobs after jopining th military if I wanted to go into the army band, lol (wheres the incindiary devce when I want it?devil)

I did not have the opportunity to practive as much as I should have or even wanted to while in service, and since leaving service I have nto even had the opportunity to get my own instrument (preferably french horn), thus have fallen way out of practice.

All od that to the side though, I would still love a chance to find a carreer in music, preferably teaching others, as I find nothing more pleasurable than sitting down and performing, or standing up and singing.

I hear you loud and clear. I auditioned for the Army Band and was accepted right out of college but changed my mind when they told me I'd have to go through basic training, (being physically disabled, I don't think I'd have made it).

I love music, all kinds, but I never wanted to teach, I just wanted to be a performer, but I couldn't get anyone to pay me for my polkas, so I went back to school and became a nurse and then a librarian and a medical researcher and an IT geek somewhere along the way.

And that's what comes of being born in a tin and popped out before your brombleburdles are fully toasted.

lol, I auditioned for the army band while still in highschool along with a student from Juliard University. he was lead chair, trombone, and I played flight of the bumble bee on french horn. both of us were turned down by the band master auditioning us, for not being good enough.

We both field greivances but by the time they were settled I was already in the army and so it did me no good. I WAS glad to hear that he lost his position as an examiner though devil

I have played guitar, bass, and various keyboard instruments (piano, organ, synthesizer, and even mellotron, and if you know what THAT is, you've probably heard Bowie's "Diamond Dogs" once or twice), but not recently.

A few of my old bandmates are trying to pull me back into their evil schemes, and I have written a couple new pieces for them to use....
