I can't believe this thread flipped from argument power over out of context OP. Yeah, the words were as written, but you had the read the whole chapter to get an inkling of the context. Much like Salmon Rushdie book on Islam, "Satanic verses." The Bible has them too if you don't understand what you are reading. My 2 cents worth. Absolutely true. We are now saved by faith in the covenant we are under now. Faith in Jesus Christ. No works could earn you anything in Heaven, it's all a given gift through the sacrifice Jesus Christ did for us all. No gift or action could trump what Jesus did. |
