welcome jen!
Trusting someone was always hard even when they were close to eachother! Most of us are aware that getting what we dream is not as easy as dreaming itself! Takes lots of hard work and patience. So we try to make do with whats available! And when we meet someone we really like, a part of us starts worrying that may be i am not worthy, may be the other one is not satisfied with me!

it will never work, trust will always be a factor, even if both ppl arent cheating.

Long distance relationship will always travel like a rocket to its peak of trust but one should be ready to face the situation if it fail at some point as it may come back to burn your heart.

I must be weird because trusting my significant other to be faithful in an LDR has never been an issue for me.

Modern technology allows people to see each other's faces no matter how far apart they are, but the technology does not permit people to physically touch each other when they are apart from each other.

For a romantic relationship to work, two people have to be able to give each other physical affection. When such physical affection is lacking for a long time, the relationship begins to break down.

I think LDR's can actually be faithful. Heck I was married to a GI and that gets pretty long distance.lol

The whole faithful stuff is something you either can deal with or can't. I would not knowingly play sloppy seconds to anyone. I personal think adults are capable of keeping themselves in check if they want to. I can be a pretty hot Momma when I want to and I have turned my furnace down until I meet someone worthwile so I don't see that an impossibility for a guy. Not like they force feed the little blue pills. lol

I would consider an LDr now but not on any long term and not with out some in person contact before a lot of time passed. I feel if we can't work out at least a meeting after a few months then it is kind of futile.

They can and do work, and it usually is the technology that brings people together, but it is something I would not enter in to without a lot of thought. The costs alone in time and money meeting someone living hundreds or thousands of miles away needs to be considered, and ultimately someone is going to have to relocate if ever you are to be together. There is a lot to think about before you enter in to a long distance relationship in my opinion, but they can work if you both want them to. Welcome to Mingle2 and good luck in your search.

Yep. When you meet someone you feel chemistry with, all your "rules" go out the window.

You guys did it the right way. Met in person with no expectations and let it flow naturally from there.

I'm very happy for you both. flowerforyou

The key is BOTH have to want it on the same level. Otherwise it won't work. You would think with all the help we have to stay in touch somebody would utilize the tools.

I believe it could.. I've had one and it worked without any infidelity issues.. it ended but only because we weren't a good match intellectually or emotionally.. would I do it again? sure.. as long as the other person is free to travel to my country at LEAST once a month

I believe it is possible now more then before for LDR's to work. Having a 28 marriage with careers separating us for three to six weeks at a time then spending a week to ten days together made for some amazing memories. Now of coarse we made a commitment and vow to one another but we didn't have modern technology as there is today. We were dedicated, faithful and committed to one another. Me being a hopeless romantic and truly understood the meaning to the heart grows fonder when you are apart and having faith we would be together until the end.

But yes both parties have to want it.

Long distance relationship can still work once there is communication and trust. If you stop communicating then you are going to be distracted by someone else and automatically the relationship will ends.

Modern technology does not increase the chances for LDR's to work....Advanced techno only increases the amount or number of people entering into them and the quality and quantity of communication...Today's long distance couples no longer rely on telephones and postal service as a means of communication....In between visits, they also connect via email, forums, texting, and Skype...All of these methods serve to enhance intimacy by broadening the scope of communication...Even so, LDR's face exactly the same challenges and problems ALL relationships face along with the added difficulties separation can and does create...In order for them to succeed, the couple must be mature, patient, committed, flexible, and trusting ...Common goals must include a future together and a clear understanding of how to make it happen ...If you meet the right one, these added challenges pale in comparison to the joy finding true love brings...
