I always wanted to adopt a kid.. a newborn may be!

About me: I am 32 not married, not dating anyone. people around me accepts that I am not irresponsible type.

I had a boyfriend long time back and after my break up I did not go for anyone else. Due to this people conclude that (1) since the adopted kid wont have any father, and also because (2) at 32 I am not married/neither dating etc- they consider this as my incapability of taking a right decision, therefore I cannot give a good life to a kid?!

Do you agree a single woman can be a good parent and give a better life to a kid? I believe I can, whats ur opinion?

Of course, as long as you have the financial means to do so. Actually I have a friend here in NY that had a baby & adopted 2 more as a single Mom & they are all doing great! She began around 35 so I say go for it!

as a single mom myself, I think what 'can' be done and what 'should' be done are often not the same

I personally would never CHOOSE to place a child in a single parent life

I believe children deserve both a mother and father to give them a foundation,,,,

but thats just me

I think your daughter will greatly benefit from a baby brother and you should do it!

It's something I gave a lot of thought to throughout my 30's also. I would always come back to the feeling that I always assumed there would be a daddy for my kids, because that's how I think of a family.

I like to think I would be a great single Mom, but would rather only prove it if those are the cards life deals my family, and not the life I invent for it. flowerforyou

Lots of kids in America have either just a mom or a dad. It does hurt them some, but I think it is better than being put in an orphanage.

That is exactly the argument I had with myself back then. But as long as the daddy factor remained an emotional stumbling block, I felt I was not ready. Even more important than a daddy, is 100% certainty of the adoptive Mommy. Until I could feel that, I felt I had no business taking a child on.

Of course that's just what felt right to me, and won't be the same for others. flowerforyou

Single parenting is hard, agreed. But you do your best and pray if you're religious.

Easiest way is if a woman will sign the kid over to you.
It can all be done with a Notary Public.
I have Guardianship of my leetle teen.
School is out and I just sent him home to Mommie fer the summer.

Only you can really decide that. Who is anyone to tell you that you can't? Just because you're single, it doesn't mean you can't be a good parent. The most important thing, is that the child is loved. Listen to your heart. You want what you want. Normally adoption service's carry out inspection's, before letting someone adopt, but that's to be expected. There's quite a lot of children out there that are brought up by single parent's, sometimes because their parent's divorce each other. You don't need naysayers ;)

My mom raised me, as a single mom for the most part, my father skipped out when he was told she was pregnant, and my step-dad was never home, usually out cheating on mom (great role model). I turned out quite well for being raised by mom alone.

The only men in my life were not men to build a foundation on, they taught me the bad things in life, I think I did fine without a father figure and it never bothered me to see other kids with their dads as mine would only take me fishing (which I hated) or work on cras IF he was home.

If you think you can be a great single parent mom, go for it, I'm sure the child you adopt will be the better for it.

Why try to adopt a new-born when so many older children are need of adoption?

I believe people CAN do any number of things

I believe a one legged man can win a race ,,,,but I dont believe anyone should intentionally make themself one legged to prove that point

I likewise dont think children should be raised intentionally by single people, I firmly believe every child deserves a mother and father

and though things happen, and people CAN successfully raise children in other circumstances

I consider it unwise and a bit selfish to PLAN on raising a child without that other parent in thier life,,,

just my opinion though
