Thank you, Tulip!
It's representing a phase in my life, or in me rather. Coming out of the woods after a period of great turbulence, sadness and pain.

In the painting below the woman is walking away from it all, deeper and deeper into the alleys, not wanting to show her face (and not feeling seen either), as she's in deep pain.

I had always intended to do another one that does show her from the front in the same street during the day, night and darkness gone.
But it turned out to be the woman in the red dress coming out of the woods :)

That's why the last painting is called "Out of the Woods"
And somehow she even looks like me, even though I didn't intend to do that.

I've always liked that one too. I did think the red dress looked like you when I saw it.

Nice to hear about your thoughts behind it. You're a strong person. Probably feels good after you put it on canvas. Nice outlet.

BTW, have you seen my Quan Yin statue yet? I'm SO in love with it! And the energies are astounding!

I started a new canvas this afternoon. Nowhere near finished yet, this is just the underpainting
I thought I'd buggered it up, but it has turned out quite good, I actually like it!
Much of it will disappear though, that's what happens to underpaintings

That's fantastic underpainting. Looks like a real photo.

It has radiant energy. So nice.

That one you did with shades of blue always takes my breath away. So cool to look back at that one.

Yeah, I liked it too :)

But also very happy with the stone circle so far! I can see myself dancing inside it, it just feels so incredibly happy and positive!
It just radiates on the inside, which is probably only achieved by the lighter stones at the back of the circle.

I've been wanting to do a stone circle for a while, but didn't think I could pull it off. And I just did it :p
Somehow I always want things to be perfect, but there's nothing perfect about stones in a stone circle. They're perfect in their imperfection. So there was no need to try and make them perfect, and when I let go of that, it just worked!

I like the blue one, Winter Night, as well! It's so tranquil. And I've always liked blue.
I expect it to be dry soon, then it can go upstairs. Running out of space downstairs at the mo, the speed I'm painting at the mo, haha.
Would be great if some actually sold, I seriously don't know where to put them anymore, lol. And tomorrow I gotta pick up a bunch from an exhibit, so there's another 10-12 paintings to find a piece of wall for. I ain't got enough walls!!

I love it!! The trees are just the right touch.

I'm sure you'll sell your paintings soon enough.

Thank you!
And yes, I like the trees as well, gives it more depth. First I thought of doing another one on the left hand side, but then I decided it was right the way it was. I added the shadows (had forgotten those at first, found myself thinking "something is missing?" lol) et voil!

Already thinking of the next painting, not sure what that's going to be. I just really can't stop, haha.
I got a few new brushes in the other day, and they are brill! Finally some brushes that do what I want them to do, makes a helluva difference.

Yesterday's work

And today's result :)

The reflection appears to have more energy to it. Maybe this illusion could be expanded, magnified & the above ground grimy buildings further dimmed?

Notice plenty of minarets in this picture.

Got a bit more work done. It's not done yet...

Moss on the cliff/rock, highlights on the trees and some treetrunks / branches
I'll do some more work on the trees, not happy with 'em...
But today's session was mostly about getting the moss on the cliff

I enjoy seeing you post the progression of your paintings.. the bare rock in one pic, then covered in moss in the next.. showing the process..
I don't have the imagination to just paint... I need a pattern!, lol You do great work.

Thank you!
I need something to go from as well. SOmetimes I use another painting, sometimes I make my own composition from different pictures or photos.
But I do notice that I do more and more my own thing. Until recently I had my 'sketch' on my laptop on the table next to my canvas. I don't even bother anymore now.
It's a matter of doing, practice, practice practice and becoming more confident. Best proof of that (confidence) is that when I get totally fed up because I feel it's not working out, I do the best painting. Cos then I just do my own thing, my own technique and I let go of caring (aiming for perfection) and just slap it on. And whenever I do that, it always turns out great!

I'm also very happy with my new brushes, makes one helluva difference to i.e. finally have a fanbrush that does what it's supposed to do!
