OT - My daughter is very tall and she often complains of backache due to bending down so much. Vacuuming and sweeping is a struggle for her.

I deliberately bought a vacuum cleaner with a telescopic rod so I don't have that problem anymore.
The mop I have is the same. You gotta make it easy for yourself!
My kitchen block is higher up, the stands on max height and then placed on wooden blocks for a li'l more, hihi. The guy that had to install it was not happy, I didn't give a flying bleep!
My loo is a high one, wash basin is hanging up for tall people comfort etc. etc.

The worst bending over for me is when talking to short people. Meaning most people in this province.
So in that sense it's best I don't befriend them. Once went to a local gig with lots of people I knew. I'd been looking forward to it!
Barely half an hour later I could go home as my neck and back were in deep poopoos due to talking to short people. And they were wearing heels :/

My friends have always been shorter, even when 18-19ish. Pain in the neck!

I understand that as my daughter has the same problems.

When I go to her house it feels like Iโ€™m in the land of giants! I canโ€™t see myself in any mirror as theyโ€™re all mounted too high for me haha.

My daughter is great for going shopping with as she can reach the top shelves with easeโ€ฆ.plus itโ€™s so easy to find her in stores as she towers over the aisles?

Both my daughter and her husband are over 6โ€™ tall.

Yes, then you do stand out for sure! I'm 5 foot 10. (1.78m) so not quite that tall, but regular vacuum cleaners etc. do give me problems. I even had that with a weed wacker (bush trimmer). So I take it your daughter and her man will have garden tools to make life easier too. I even bought a different spraycan for pesticides with an extendable rod. Bloody expensive but sorted my back problems, hihi.

Over here it depends much on the area you live in. Where I'm from originally people are generally taller. I remember once going back there to celebrate carnaval with a friend. I had to actually look UP! Such a great experience for me, haha.
Where I lived with my husband -at that same time- people were generally shorter. And here in this part of this province most my age are a helluva lot shorter too. Around 1.50m-1.55m Doesn't work for me when socialising, nor dating hihi.

Aren't Scots taller in general? Going back there was Norsemen, right, and these tended to be taller too I think?

I am 6 foot 4 inches or in proper language 193 cm. In my life I had good use of my height. Running through the woods is an ease, just as long as I watch my head from low branches. The negative part is that tall people have shorter life span than shorter people. If I could go back 40 years I would not want to change my height. I would not want to change anything about my body. I would change my behavior though as a young man and I would spend more time in politics and try to change what the world have become today. Maybe 40 active years in politics could have changed something?
My country has become a civil servant dictatorship and politicians has no longer any real power to change anything here. I am in all purpose an Anarchist today. Most of you don't know the meaning of that though.

How condescending!

OK in your opinion. Most people confuse Anarchy with Anarchism. I suggest just a quick check on Wikipedia.
This is off topic, but a few political ideologies has been disqualified due to mad men in history past. How ever Anarchism has been killed of by propaganda not a mad man.

I'm 5'5, and taller than average for a Malay woman. I'm also the tallest at my workplace. And, I'm not thin so I look much bigger. Being tallest, I'm the one who has to reach things high up.

My kids inherited petite genes from their dad's side. My son was bullied at school in his earlier years, but now he's grown as tall as me.

Are there advantages that go with being tall, and do short people lose anything for being short?

Only in shallow minds.
I am a towering 5ft 4in. LOL
I never think about it. Though I do know every short joke ever told. LOL
I have dated women shorter than I and I have dated women far taller in the 6ft +. It is only an issue if you make it one.
