Boy with cancer loses coverage after Obamacare launch

He was born with a rare form of cancer and lost his health insurance just after Obamacare went into effect.

Americans were told the health-care law was designed to help children just like Hunter, born with a deadly pre-existing condition and little means to pay for expensive treatments.

The Affordable Care Act was not supposed to take away the insurance these most-vulnerable children already had and leave them utterly defenseless against a life-threatening disease.

Answers are hard to come by, but it looks like that’s what the president’s signature achievement has done in the small town of Gainesville, Texas.

Hey, just like old times. Used to be kids would die because insurance wouldn't pay for it, now they die because obozo and his cohorts are idiots.

The link didn't point to the story or WND took it down, but if the OP is right, the boy's family will be able to go buy better insurance on their state exchange, and with the prohibition on pre-existing condition exclusions, they won't even face higher premiums than other families in their state, regardless of the cancer.

The story was right there Morty! I agree with Conrad, you didn't look too hard! Take those "Obama-blinders" off.

Thank you for correcting the link. When I clicked on the link in the OP, it only took me to a front page at WND with several stories, but none of the stories I saw on the first three pages was about a boy losing coverage. Do you see how the links are different?

Anyway, having read the story from the corrected link, I find it extra sad that a police officer in Texas has to go on Medicare. Maybe it's just me living in California, but I expect police officers to be well-paid, considering the jobs they do with the dangers they face.

That said, the article points to Texas' medicare system that simply lost the family's records in some weird changeover. The changeover may have been due to changes in the ACA, but that's not the ACA. Also, what I posted above is still true. The family could easily sign up for affordable health insurance under the new ACA. A family of four making about $50K/year would be eligible for subsidies, too, so they should be alright. Not that WND will ever say such, being such a conservative blog.

WND is to conservatives what Westboro Baptist Church is to Baptists.

I think you're drinking the kool aid. 'Better' insurance means he would also have OB coverage, abortion coverage, etc. These plans also tend to have ridiculous deductibles and they are anything but cheaper. The only way the premiums would be lower for him is if he is relatively poor. Since the plans cover everything under the sun they must cost more (at least $20k/yr for a fam of 4!).

I don't know where you got your facts, but they lied to you. The cheapest policies under the ACA-compliant plans are way less than $20K. If the family is making less than four times the poverty level, then they will likely be eligible for subsidized rates as well. I guess you didn't read the article, because the family in it were on Medicare when they lost it, due to an administrative error. Also, why shouldn't a family of 4 have OB coverage the women in the family?

It's funny how so many Cons screamed like stuck pigs about the President lying about "you can keep it" when they're perpetually lying a lot more about health care reform.

Yeah, I read that a lot from Cons who just take whatever they see on Fox News or read on Drudge Report. It's funny to see how imbecilic they are, until I remember that they vote in Teabaggers. Then it's just sad (and they say it's me "drinking the kool-aid").
