I have to strongly agree with many of these opinions especially phxlilly, philosopher, but silent lucidity really hit it on the head with his comment on the children of tomorrow being VERY SCARRY considering the future!!?? Do 'they' even have a clue? Think about who the nominations might be for President of the U.S.!! It will definately be one strange country a hundred years from now if in deed it is still standing, but I think not.......We are too big a target and like phxlilly says we give too much to non americans while our people suffer. In truth I believe our air is changing our climate and the lack of trees and water from what we call "progress" is actually our doom.

laugh 100 Years from now, should be after WW3 and what is left of MANKIND might almost be up to the Stone Age...

But it may take more time than that for The Planet to recover from the earth changes and for The waters of THE GREAT FLOOD to get things all cleaned back up again...

man if u look at other democracys (thought there haven't been that many compared to less free governments) they have never lasted over 300 years, I believe this is a proven fact and we are winding down our run

lizardking19,

The US was the first Democracy and we are doing okay, except for a severe case of moral decay. We aren't as bad as you think. I remember being your age and saying "There's going to be a revolution soon! No country as corrupt as ours will ever last." and then I grew up.

Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has not heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains.

lizardking19,

Athens was a limited democracy. In Athens, only men 18 and older who were in the military and had paid their taxes could vote, which was a very small segment of the population. True democracy can only be found in the US, with our three tiered government (Local, state, Federal) and our seperation of powers (Judicial, Legislated and Executive) is a true liberal, representative democracy. We elect our leaders at every level and position in government. We have some corruption in our government, but that's because the people who vote ususally don't know what they are voting for.

In terms of politics; I see the multitude of laws to be the greatest flaw to be considered in the next hundred years.
A politician is also a "lawmaker" making the situation very dire
for individual freedom. The more useless laws, the more outdated
laws left on the books means a overly restricted society and even
a change in Government where we are mainly puppets to the whims of
Government.
In terms of global warming; we'll be around in 100 years but our
technology has led to a situation where millions will die as a consequence. Will we learn to fix the damage that our pollutions have caused the eco system in a hundred years. Let's hope so.
That's my opinion right now.

Great question!!!

Great, because there is no use in coming up with an answer. There isn't one!

Great because all that's left to do is think, reflect, explore!

Without trying to predict anything, in my opinion a major balancing act is going to take place in the next 100 years. Keeping 3/4 of the planet poor to keep 1/4 filthy rich, will simply not wash over the next 100 years. I consider myself part of the filthy rich. I have no guilt over it. But I can't see, nor argue intelligently how this exclusive model can be morally, or operationally justified.

The quintessential issue that the planet will struggle with over the next 100 as to do with 'rights' and responsibilities.

Western nations will essentially be confronted with the impossible balance bewtween individual, collective, corporate rights and RESPONSIBLITIES, within their boundaries, but from an international perspective as well.

Third world and emerging nations will have to own up to instituting the notion of 'rights' period!!!

The team that best deals with their respective challenges, wins.

But whatever the winner, whether we still English or Mandarin, if the planet is still around, we will have succeeded, the whole planet together, in agreeing on the same definition and workable notions of rights and responsibilities.

It depends.

There are trends
in this country
that are very hopeful.

But there are other
trends that are very
scary.

I believe we are
at a nexus in history.

The United States has
enemies that want to
destroy us, physically
and economically.

However, we can not live in fear,
because if we live in fear,
then our enemies have won.

It takes vigilance.

But to be a secure nation
that doesn't live in fear,
we have to be strong internally
as well as externally.

We have internal weaknesses
that can be exploited by
those who wish to terrorize us.

Fighting some enemies in the
Middle East will not make us
that much more safe.

It's a terrible waste of resources
and is inefficient.

But what concerns me even
more than terrorists is the
breakdown of the family.

It's caused more damage
than any terrorist.

Alcoholism, drug abuse,
family strife,
fatherless children,
lack of health care,
violence, poverty,
discrimination and other
factors are greater threats
to our society than all
the terrorists in the world.

So each of us needs
to do our part to
make sure we act
responsibly and with
regard for others. frown

laugh If mankind ever breaks free of the clutches of The Iluminatti
and emerges from it's shadows of fear and deseption, Then Man will once again understand his past and be able to freely move into his future...

But mankind is silly as he would just as soon sell his imortal Soul, for a cup of coffee and a song, or less...

So in the end, man kind has always kept himself shackled to The Dark Ages... yawn

All right davinci!

I can't wait for 100 years!

I want Minnesota to be tropical now!

That way, I don't have to become
a snowbird and fly down to Cali
or Florida!

Now all we need is an ocean... drinker
