Could a White House spell-off be in the works between President Obama and former Vice President Dan Quayle? In a throwback to the latter's infamous misspelling of the word "potato," Obama misspelled "respect" while introducing singer Aretha Franklin during a tribute to "Women of Soul" at the White House Thursday. “When Aretha first told us what … R-S-P-E-C-T meant to her,” Obama said, pausing briefly before the audience began laughing, apparently realizing his mistake. “She had no idea it would become a rallying cry for African Americans and women and anyone else who felt marginalized because of what they looked like, who they loved. They wanted some respect.” Also looking for some respect is Quayle, who in 1992 was schooled by a sixth grader on how to spell potato. Quayle was at the Munoz Rivera Elementary School spelling bee in Trenton, N.J., when he relied on a notecard provided by the school on the spelling of the word potato, a word used in the contest. The notecard incorrectly added an “e” to the end of the word, and Quayle advised the student to spell it that way. In his 1994 autobiography, Quayle called the day “a defining moment of the worst kind imaginable." R-S-P-E-C-T was from a verse of Ms Franklin's hit song. Just before the "sockittome sockittome sockittome sockittome" part. Vice President Quayle made his error by correcting a kid's spelling while reading from a typo on his cue card, which to be fair, wasn't all his fault, but yeah, embarrassing. I always thought it was a lame joke to keep teasing the Quayle about.

Actually I now they song quite well and not once was it sang that way, otherwise the whole audience wouldn't have laughed at his ignorance. I love how Obama supporters will come up with lies and delusions for their Messiah.

Seems like only liberals seem to have a problem with that word and not just spelling it.

I am aware of this,but if one puts blame,one might as well do it right,to heck with the Truth! They blame everything else on GWB! But it is Bush's fault. He never left and has been hiding out in the White House doing all this mischief.

Bush and Barry, other when President Bush knowing how to spell and is a decorated military fighter pilot, is that President Bush has class. Obama has no idea class is, he thinks that what the tax payers pay the Secret Service to drop his daughter off at everyday.
