Not long after I watched that movie on TV, a single satellite malfunctioned, causing the loss of the use of machines that used credit/debit cards. Thankfully, the loss was brief.

When I was a retail cashier, there was more than one occasion when the technology controlling the use of credit cards in my store somehow malfunctioned, making it difficult for people to make purchases via credit cards.

I could "almost" agree with a temporary chip in our adolescent children to prevent child abductions and trafficking, but I would never agree with it as an adult!
