Well my problem is I have a two year old son that wants to be a "BIG BOY" and learn to use the potty however his father or sperm donor, has never been around. How do I teach him to use the potty? Do I let him sit down to be a sissy or learn to stand up and clean up pee everyday. Dont want to hinder from him learning, just a question im asking! Please help me out!

In my opinion, either one is fine, as long as he knows when to go, he will be on the right track

Start with sit down training and than work on the stand up
training a little later once he has got the hang of going in the potty. Sitting when young is not being a sissy.
Have patience too- it helps! Goodluck...

they sell little targets for lil boys to aim at,, so it kinda makes it fun, you can try that.

Or you can use cheerios and tell him to dunk them that worked on my nephew

My sons learned on the potty seats, I guess you call them. That was a very long time ago. My sons are 21 & 23. They learn sitting down first, I thought that was easier for them.

With my boys i had them first sitting down until they got use to using the potty...Once they were doing well I taught them to stand up and aim for a certain color of Fruit Loops..they love that game and learned very quick.

Teaching them to sit and go to the bathroom is being a sissy? Please!! You have a lot to learn!! I taught both of my boys on a potty chair...trust me, neither one of my boys are a sissy~~they are true boys!!grumble

My son caught on the very first day and was totally potty trained from then on and all I did was (to pee) get a stool he could reach the toilet, put something to aim and make it fun. I think what he liked the best was only shaking it twice, lol. I never sat him down to pee, but I don't agree that would make him a sissy. He cannot stand up to poop!? He's got to sit down someday right? It's different with boys and girls because when boys 'have to go' you have to distinguish whether it's 'one' or 'two' they're shooting for. blushing Let us know how you're doing....

please teach him sitting down first..i tried the whole stand up thing too...bad idea..there was pee everywhere...lol the walls, the tub, floor ect...then my mom came over one day and was like you have to make him sit...worked like a charm...eaasier when ur teaching about #2...you dont wanna confuse them that they have to sit for that one after they have learned to stand to pee....

Sit for potty..step for the toilet when he's bigger, and a ping pong ball for aim...(they float and dont flush)

Seems like you have many difference of opinions here. I never had 'pee' all over anything because I taught my son to AIM inside the toilet not around the toilet. It all depends on the child I would think. Maybe some may have an 'aiming' problem..lol All I know is My son was not CONFUSED about his #1 or #2 since they ARE not the same as far as 'letting them go', lmao! Standing up on the stool made my son feel like a big boy like daddy, but since u have no daddy, maybe sitting down would suffice in this situation.

If you live in an area where they can go outside, that is the best "first" time trying..with their pull-ups on they can go outside tell him to pee on a bug..did it with both my sons and they learned quick..if you can't then a stool and standing with the cheerios is the way the daycare does it!flowerforyou
