great in 'what's eating gilbert grape' and 'cry baby', good in 'edward scissor hands' less than fair in the 'pirate' movies, terrible as 'tonto' and the new film 'transcendence' sucks balls!
he has made other films and is usually pretty good (definitely not great) in them, but he is also a pompous, pretentious, fool that would sooner bite the hand that feeds him than adhere to anything resembling gratitude. he hates hollywood, hates the fans, hates his own country and hates the very celebrity that enables him to live the lifestyle he does. "I'm an actor. I don'�t even watch [the films] most of the time. People will say a movie bombed at the box office but I couldn't care less." i guess based on his popularity, i would say he is overrated as an actor. |

No. I admit he was very good in 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas'. Donny Brasco too.

My favorite Depp movie is Ed Wood. His heavy make-up shtick has gotten old- The Pirates movies, Tonto in the Lone Ranger, the Dark Shadows remake, he virtually plays the same "quirky" character.

i like the way he says in style "aye" and "jacksparrow captain jacksparrow" and also his lazy ness in the movie .

Mmm, he is gorgeous as Captain Jack! I must admit I like most of the stuff he's in (that I've seen anyway). I don't really like the 3rd pirates movie and Dark Shadows is just weird, but I liked him in Sleepy Hollow and Alice in Wonderland :)

I'll state the obvious. His first turn as Captain Jack made him legendary.

The Lone Ranger might be the worst movie ever. It is not even campy fun. It's just embarrassing. I like his earlier stuff, but his quirks have now overtaken his acting.
