Topic: Hard to find like minded women

It seems every woman's profile I read mentions their faith or their relationship with god. Are there any ladies out there who don't need to follow a doctrine but are just good for the sake of being a good person? I don't believe but I'm no ogre because of it.

I concur. I'm agnostic (even though I'm the oldest child of a southern Baptist minister). I've seen religions around the world and though very different-they are the same at their core. Whatever keeps a human moral has to be real but for me, I keep me real. I have morals, ethics, standards, and am an honest person, but I guess some people need religion to keep themselves reminded.

Religion in the profile description is off putting for me.

I like heathens and pagans but I don't need to follow any religion. I find my own way.

Hiiii!!! waving

I turn and walk away when I see any kind of religion in a profile, not my thing, never really was. And from the look of the posts, there are a lot more of us then I realized. Cool beans.

Yep, we're heeeeeere! I do the same thing; run away when I see any mention of "god-fearing" or the like. If you're afraid of an imaginary character from a kids story, then there's no hope for an intelligent conversation, I'm afraid. ;)

You know, I'm a very serious agnostic. To me believing, or not, is not a big deal. I mean we don't know what's going on, and might never.

As long as she is a good women who loves you, you should be cool. It's very rare to find a true agnostic.

I'm agnostic as well. Life is religion to me. I talk to god and gods all the time.

HOMOSAPIENS Are Pack animals. Our instincts are why we have morals. What's good for the herd is best.

Those that break the moral codes are not really breaking anything. Strongest survive isn't true. The most adaptable survive.

Don't worry about the church. They are too old and powerful to be taken down.

It's cool though. Our agnostic brothers left us jokes in it.

Probably there are more religious women than men in average.
Anyway I'm definitely not one of them.
I have nothing against religion when it doesn't flow into fanaticism, stupidity, arrogance and violence, because I think that everyone is free to build up his/her psychological balance the way he/she likes, even when it means believing in pink flying elephants, but since I was 13 years old I just can't help being very critical and rational about any aspect of life. It's just my way of interpreting life.
I'm a very analytical person and when I don't see enough evidence to support an idea (ANY idea) I just cannot believe in that idea.
Of course I'm not a perfect robot, as I have feelings, fears and need of security as any other human being, but because of my critical attitude I am often "accused" to be "too rational", or to "think too much".

Do you mind me asking what being agnostic means to you. Many people use the word incorrectly. As I understand it there were in the early church sects who felt that Jesus left a kabbalistic or magical message. Those who were aware of it were referred to as Gnostics or as translated from Greek, "those with knowledge". Using the prefix "a" in Greek means without as in "a"sexual meaning without sex or in this case "a"gnostic meaning "without knowledge".I'm not trying to be a smartass I just am curious what it means to you.

Yeah, I have trouble dating people of religion too but most of them don't seem to know exactly what it is they believe in anyhow. Momma told them they were Baptists or whatever so they're Baptists.A lot of men belong to a certain church because their wives do.

I call myself a spiritual atheist, non-deist or half-assed Buddhist. I've been called a neo-animist as well agnostic. I have a frustration with most people, who seem to lack a sense of awe, wonder and gratitude in their day to day life. I've had close friendships with people who hold a diversity of beliefs. Good people share core values that cross all possible boundaries. This is frequently too much for atheists and religious people alike to appreciate. Humans like divisiveness. To transcend that takes a conscious effort. A spiritual mindset has nothing to do with deity.

Considering all the instances of misogyny in so many religions it's hard to believe the numbers are skewed the way they are.

I know what you mean. Although a fews years ago I wouldn't have understood. I've had experiences that altered my entire concept of what's possible. Of course my ideas could be totaly wrong, but I'm basically an animist. I think the planet itself is a conscious being, with it's own intentions.

Btw, nice to see that there are real girls here.
