To pick a best film I think you have to pick one you find deeply moving. I pick Papillon. That final scene, after everything he went through, yet they couldn't break his spirit, such was his desire for freedom.

I have never met anyone else who liked Harold and Maude! I loved that movie...remember seeing it for the first time at the drive in when I was about 7 years old.

I thought Salo was brilliant and I have a copy, but I figured that if they murdered the director what they may do to some crazy poet decades after its release.

irreversible was really good. it was difficult to watch, at times, but that was the point. i turned away more than once, but i never stopped watching.

A new favorite of mine is Escape From Tomorrow. It's like David Lynch and Terry Gilliam got together to film their trip to Disney. Amazingly this was all filmed at both Disney parks without permission, and more amazingly Disney didn't stop it from being released.
