Given how easy it is to be stalked online are there any "tells" to look out for especially on dating forums?

This is a good question & I too want to know.

I've been interacting on various sites online since mid 2012. And I've encountered numerous strangers that know a lot about me even though I know absolutely nothing about them, and may not have even exchanged words or posts with them.

Now people knowing things about me isn't the issue, because I'm pretty open about myself on purpose. I'm either your cup of tea or I'm not, so beating around the bush is too slow and bores me easily.

But, I've also been viciously attacked on the boards of another dating site, I think its called being flamed, by an entire group of people I've never met or interacted with. And after this kind of thing happens to you, especially if you're a newbie, you quickly get the feel of the sites your on, and if you're ever attacked again even if just subtly, you know it.

So, to me, "a tell" that I am being or have been stalked is when someone I DO NOT know posts information about me that the only way they could know it is if they are following me around watching me, keeping up with my personal business, or are talking to their friends about me.

And I'd like to know the tells of others who've been stalked, because I know I'm NOT the only person online this happens too.

what

Scary **** isn't it?

Considering that the restraining order didn't seem to have the desired effect, yes. Who knew that a piece of paper signed by a judge could be so easily bypassed. slaphead I guess if paperwork isn't enough to keep us safe then a gun might just do the trick, huh.

well put it this way

for one example
there used to be
a tv show yrs ago
called sister sam

she was killed
by her stalker

and how he got her address
belive it or not back then
you were able to pay for info
at the post office to get a address

i was trying to locate my daughter dad
i kinda knew where he lived but i paid
a few dollars for i wanted my daughter
to see him.. this was about 29yrs ago
that i did this

the tv star from
sister sam if i recall right
was killed around 10yrs ago
it could be longer

that is why.
that info no matter what
is not available from
the post office anymore

that star was killed for
a $5 search for a dang address
that shouldnt had been given out

here is that info
on her and the stalker
she was actually from oregon

People will certainly go to many lengths when obsessed. My in person stalker even had his friends in other counties keeping their eyes on me too and reporting back to him. So it was like a group stalk thing. ohwell

Yes it is.

And people that it has never happened too, or haven't endured the trauma, seriousness and danger of all the way through the court system think its just another joke they can trivialize with laughter. ohwell

I can relate with your 5 year plan and I hope that it's working well for you. Be safe... flowerforyou

Yes, by all means, stalkers, continue to post online for the entire universe to see your MO  because some of us would like to know what you're really all about... you know, so we can choose to avoid you... waving

happens to the best of us

and then to the rest of us... shades

I have to admit that I've been so tempted sometimes to want to run behind my man to see what he's doing or where he's at when I know he's not working and it's time for him to be at home, especially if I've got dinner ready for him.

One of my ex-mother-in-laws used to try to get me to chase down her son, my husband, because she knew what he was doing and wanted me to stop him.

But daddy always told me its not a woman's place to chase after a man, so I held my peace and finally divorced him after years of being tired of getting run over.

Still... wanting to know where my other half is at, maybe even calling him on his cell to check up isn't the same as lurking and sneaking around to watch and bust him in the act.

Or during the many times through the years I'd leave and stay gone for a few days or weeks he'd always keep an eye on me, but I never checked on him even when I wanted too.

Jeezz, personal relationships can get so freaky sometimes... especially when the connection is so intense and good on the one hand drool... and so much more extreme when its bad pitchfork on the other.

slaphead

I've seen a few people mention how stalking can be self-inflicted. But how can it be, unless the victim gave a "Come hither!" look, or flirted first?
